We have eaten or had a drink at the restaurant at the Hotel de la Poste several times over a number of years. It's attached to the Ibis Hotel in Montargis and it is only natural to gravitate there when lodging at the Ibis. It is a only short walk from the small boat port as well.
The building is an historic one and the restaurant inside features belle-epogue style stained glass partitions and ceilings with sections of the room enclosed by wooden balustrades. The room has separate booths also so bigger groups can feel somewhat removed from the other diners. In all it is an impressive set up.
We have dined at night enjoying traditional French cuisine in fine dining atmosphere with very good service, linen and table ware.
On our most recent visit in May 2008, we had lunch on the terrace and frequented the inside bar area a couple of times. The touristic carte featured some traditional dishes like Escargot de Bourgogne 6 for €4.90; salade du Perigord (€14.50); Salade with Crottin de chevre roti & lardons (€11.00)

Favorite Dish: We chose the lunch "Bistrot" menu for €12 which was a bargain with two courses chosen from a possible five entrees, 5 mains or 4 desserts. A Plat du Jour was available for €9.
The entree choice included Potage a la Tomate, Filet de Herang Pommes a l'huile, Oufs durs mayonnaise. The mains: Filet de Poisson du marche et sa sauce, Steak de boeuf et pommes frites.
Something to suit all tastes enjoyed by the whole family.

A high ceilinged restaurant in an old grand house. On entering you'll immediately see the pizza baker and the wood burning oven.
    Good pizza's and pasta.

Do visit the toilet, if only to enjoy walking up those old wide oak stairs.

    Closed on Sunday and Monday.
Closed on the evenings of Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday.
Open on Friday, Saturday until 22.30 hrs.

Favorite Dish: I enjoyed my spaghetti A Rabiata (fresh tomatosauce with lots of piment). Not too spicy but with lots of kick. The spaghetti Bolognese had a good strong beefy taste.
