Windfarm between Paris and Tours by tiabunna This photo was taken from the TGV, enroute to Tours, as we flashed through what appeared to be wheatfields. Coming from Australia, where ongoing droughts have left much of the country very brown, it was fascinating to see how insanely green was the French countryside. Equally as interesting was to see the rows of wind generators, quietly generating electricity in their Quixotic way. I found myself wondering if these also had generated as much debate and discussion as happens in Australia whenever there is a proposal to erect a windfarm!

by lmkluque My friend didn't have a place to live in at the time of my visit so he borrowed a friend's flat--his friend only used the flat on weekends. The thought of staying at a stranger's home while they were away was a bit unnerving. The decor was "early hippie"--by American standards and I loved it. The view out the window was of an identical window to the one I stood at. As I looked out, I marveled at the fact that I was in France, in this typical French flat, looking out a window as I have only seen in movies and I marveled at the fact that if the truck parked across the street were not half way on the sidewalk, another car could not pass by! So, to remember the moment I snapped this photo. I wish for you many such moments. Leave a Comment

by GUYON stay a moment at the WAX MUSEUM (Historial de Touraine)
Joan of Arc heard voices before the invention of the mini tape recorders. You know certainly the story : she came from Lorrain, obtained an Army from Charles 7th, delivered Orleans besieged by English soldiers, made possible the coronation of Charles 7th, was wounded in front of Paris, was made prisonner, considered as a witch and burned, not by the English but by the Burgundians. by GUYON visit the WAX MUSEUM. It shows the contribution of Tours and its area to the France History.
The Charles 7th 's nickname is 'Le Bien Servi' (The Well Served)because he owes Joan of Arc his crown and Agnès Sorel the love. He was ugly and not cunning but he was lucky. Leave a Comment

a mannequin in a shop window by d_d In Tours, there are a lot of shops. You'll find everything you need. And the prices are good (quite cheaper than Milan!). From La Fayette store to little shops! Leave a Comment

by lmkluque Given a tour of the family root cellar, which holds the precious wines as well. The fruit trees in the yard supply the juice and the neighbor across the way makes the wine--a fine partnership and the wine is very strong! Leave a Comment

by GUYON say hello to the Old Chap Leonard of Vinci.
Both artist and engineer, Leonard of Vinci was the first specialist of science fiction. He had some ideas in advance on his time : the car, the plane, the helicopter, the tanks. Leave a Comment
