This "speciality" is situated at the Place du Forum.
This large individual house is basically an example of Renaissance Style, although it also has a 13th Century GOTHIC hall.
But first and foremost this museum is a fully functioning house, with 16 rooms on 2 floors .
It is also part of Reim's HISTORY!
It houses an exceptional collection of 14 carvings on wood, including the Apocalypse of St. John, ALBRECHT DüRER'S most famous work.
Isn't this museum a fabulous sight?? On the outside and also on the inside......so.....there you go, direction Pavillion Le Vergeur , address is below....
Located at Place du Forum, Hôtel le Vergeur was built in the 13th century by Nicolas le Vergeur as his residence. He was a seedsman who had made a fortune and climbed the social ladder to nobility. The mansion's façade has conserved the Alsatian-inspired style, but expansions of the mansion in the 15th and 17th centuries resulted in a mix of styles inside and in the rear of the structure, including Renaissance-period details. Hôtel le Vergeur is nowadays a museum exhibiting the palace itself, along with its furniture and objects on the history of the city.
In France a Hotel is often not a place to rent rooms. It is (1) the Hotel de Ville or Town Hall or (2) a mansion of some importance. Many have become museums and are very interesting to visit. The Hotel le Vergeur in Reims has a complete, original series of prints of the Apocalypse and the Large Passion by Albrecht Dürer that we wanted to see, so we headed for the museum after touring the Cathedral and Palais du Tau.
The Hotel le Vergeur is right on the Forum Market Square with remains of an ancient Roman Forum underground across from it. The market square is lively during market but a pleasant place to spend an hour beside the fountains with a cool drink on a hot day when the market is over.

It isn't mentioned on the museum web site but we discovered you must take a tour so you may have to wait or make an appointment. We were allowed to wait in the garden and it is lovely there. Tours are in French but our guide answered one gentleman's questions in English during the tour. Photos are allowed in the garden but not in the museum.
The museum web site is in French. You can look at an English web site at http://www.reims-tourism.com/museum-hotel-le-vergeur/commune/tabid/15267/offreid/25af2803-add0-46a7-948d-86b5fcd5e25b/museum.aspx
