Coastal Resorts: what to do at night

by rachel_sun

Nightlife at coastal resorts is vibrant, although disco's will only get packed during June to August. In season, things begin to hot up quite late ,about midnight, and carries through to dawn.Things really get going when young italians are over for the summer.Almost every holiday resort has its 'miss italia'.In july and August, there are village fetes held in central squares where visiters are welcome. The best entertainment for young people is down on the coast. Casual

Café de Cours

by SusanneBeck

Café de CoursI always think back to Cafe de Cours fondly. On my first night in Corsica, I went there for a drink with my new friend Siobhan. We were the only 2 foreign students there at the time and we were full of hope and excitement when we talked about what the following months held for us. Cafe De Cours was also one of the last bars I went to before I left Corsica in December. My last night before Christmas was a sad one for me and my return in January seemed so far away. I was so sad to be leaving my friends who I'd spent hours with everyday for the past 3 months. I went to this pub with my closest friends. This picture was taken but as you can see, I wasn't very happy. I did have a brilliant night though!! casual/smart

L'An 2000

by SusanneBeck

L'An 2000This place is unbelievable! It has to be the smallest nightclub ever. What's more, it's the only one in Corte. You must see this place! It's rather like a train carriage. A narrow alley way with seats on both sides leads to the tiny dance floor. It's very small. The music is all from the 80s. The last time I was there, it was a Madonna album, then the Grease soundtrack! The best thing about this place is that admission is free and it stays open very very late so is a good place to finish a big night out. BUT drinks are £7 each! It doesn't matter what you drink, alcoholic or non-alcoholic, a drink is £7! It's crazy but I've had lots of fun here and never bought a drink yet! It doesn't matter what you wear.

Bar Corsica

by SusanneBeck

Bar CorsicaThis was the 2nd place we found which had a pool table and it seemed to have much nicer atmosphere too. It also had table football and a few arcade games. Interestingly, Bar Corsica was also one of the very few places in Corsica with female bar staff. Casual

Café de France

by SusanneBeck

Café de FranceThis is a nice, quiet pub with a separate pool (billiards) room. It's great for the fact that it has 2 pool tables. Apart from that, it's often an empty pub apart from a few old men in a corner drinking coffee. The barmen are friendly and always ready for a chat. Casual

L'Oriente

by SusanneBeck

L'OrienteBeing the closest pub/sandwich bar to the university, this place is very common with university students and a place I spent many a night. Nightlife in Corsica is not great especially in Corte and L'Oriente was probably the best in the area. We spent so many nights here. At first, Saturday nights were our big nights. The other students went home at weekends to the bigger cities just leaving us foreign ones to make the most of an empty town. We took over the Oriente and the barmen let us DJ and, at times, even make our own drinks. After a few weeks, our pattern changed and we braved the big corsican student nights. They were so much fun though the Corsicans are much more reserved than most other people. Corsica isn't the type of place where you'd see men and women all over each other on a night out. Instead, the girls all sit together quietly eying up the men waiting for them to...

Bips

by SusanneBeck

BipsBips is another fun place to go. It's very similar to the Oriente but I think I preferred it. I'm not sure why but it seemed to have a more relaxed atmostphere. Bips has a good dancefloor and drinks tend to be a bit cheaper than in L'Oriente. On the quieter nights, most people can be found in groups playing cards or board games. I learnt to play chess here!! Same as anywhere in Corsica. It really doesn't matter but on the big nights (Tuesdays and Thursdays) it's better to get a bit dressed up.

Nighttime walks in St.Florent

by satara

Just having a walk along the port of St.Florent, looking at the yachts, choosing one of plenty restaurants situated near the port and spending a lovely summer evening with your trip fellows.
