Keep your Rucksack Safe -- Keep your kit Dry

by into-thin-air

If you are travelling Anywhere and using a Rucksack / Backpack as your luggage then I would Strongly recommend that you use some form of Rucksack / Backpack Pro-tector !!This tip is from my own personal experience, as I have had Big Problems having my Rucksack damaged or even destroyed by airlines, particularly on Airport Carousels,What can happen is that one of the straps can drop in-between the lats on the moving Carousel and then as your Rucksack goes around a corner, the strap gets ripped off, I lost the entire back and carrying system from one of my rucksacks !!I have tried many of the Rucksack / Backpack Protectors that are available on the market and was disappointed with how they performed, So after having many problems with these decided to design and manufacture my own. Full details of how this came about are written up on my Nepal page. So, Obviously my own recommendation would...

The Rough Guide to Corsica - Excellent!!!

by genevadavid

We used The Rough Guide to Corsica, written and researched by David Abram is an excellent guide. It is full of useful information. It is especially written for people who like to hike and therefore experience the country at a walker's pace.We also used the Guide du Routard: Corse which complemented the RG in many places.

Do bring good walking shoes along

by rachel_sun

Take normal suit case and hand luggage and a small back pack for walking and trips to put your drink and beach gear in. Do bring good walking shoes with a good grip and wear a hat if you are walking to stop you burning.Bring light clothes in the summer and trousers for walking in the mountains because of the prickly shrubs.Do dress decently in churches and the remote villages(trousers and long sleeves). Bring the usual stuff like sun lotion and after sun and a basic medical kit with insect bite relief, headache pills, plasters, stomoch upset pills and do remember your E111 form which entitles you to free medical treatment. Do take plenty of film and batteries and remember to take pictures early morning or late afternoon for the best light. Dont forget your beach towel and back pack. Do take some magazines for the flight.Dont forget your travel adaptor.Check if you need a visa.

Although there are lots of banks and cash dispensers throughout Corsica, it's a good idea to take some foreign currency with you, just in case. Corsica is now in the process of changing to the Euro, and Francs can only be used for the next month or so. Coming from the UK, I had to make sure my bank card had the 'link' or 'Maestro' symbol on it so i could take money out of bank machines in Corsica. There is normally a charge for this service starting from about £2.50 sterling. Another important thing is to make sure you know your pin numbers for any bank or credit cards. Many shops require you to type in your pin number when paying by card.

Don't forget
