Located on the beautiful main square in Rouen, the Carpe Diem Café looks more like a bar than restaurant/café.
When we visited, most of the tables out the front of the café were filled with happy people enjoying the early evening sun with a beer or mixed drink.
We decided to join them for a cool drink and have a chat about the events of the day.
Alex had a Leffe beer and Chris and I both had a refreshing Gin & Tonic. It was dearer to sit on the terrace, but it was too lovely an evening to sit inside, though the inside of the café looked nice too.
When we walked by later in the evening the in and outside of the café were filled with people drinking and eating.
Dress Code: There was a mix of tourist casual and French chic

If you are looking for somewhere to have drink on Place du Vieux Marche you will probably end up at L'Euro Café. Located in the heart of the square, it is prime people watching territory.
The café has a large seating area out the front, plus plenty of room inside over a couple of floors. The waiting staff are good looking and fairly efficient.
The evening we were there they were televising one of the Football World Cup matches on a large TV at the front of the café, hence it was filled with sport fans and tourists.
We found a free table out in the square, far away enough from the TV to escape someone yelling in our ear, but close enough to check out the score from time to time.
Apart from a selection of cocktails and the usual beers and mixed drinks, the Euro café also serves tapas dishes, pasta and bistro style dishes.
We just ordered a beers each, and nibbled on the complimentary snacks.
Dress Code: tourist casual is fine

I made one visit to Exo7 with a group of French kids aged 22+
I preferred it to previous Rouen nightclubs because it was mainly rock music and everyone there was of student age. The drinks are expensive but this is the same with every Rouen nightclub.
There is a large dancefloor and plenty of seating, as well as a cloakroom for coats and bags (beware: you won't be allowed to take your bag in with you so keep some cash in your pocket!)
Dress Code: Anything goes - casual, dressed-up, gothic...

This city is sooo beautiful, even at night. Just by walking around the city centre, you can have a great night, as there are many bars open here, the people are nice and it is completely safe!!
This is especially nice in winter, due to the Christmas market
Dress Code: During Christmas, it is quite cold, so take a jacket.

This was the sole Irish Bar we found in Rouen, but not an Irish voice to be heard - expensive and no better than any of the other bars in the square
