    Auzou Le Chocolatier: Sweet treats

    by sue_stone Written Jul 31, 2006

    4.5 out of 5 starsHelpfulness

At the end of rue du Gros Horloge, just as you enter Place du Vieux Marche, there is a very special shop which is impossible to walk past without having a closer look. Its name is Auzou, and it specialises in chocolate.

Look for the small tower of macaroons on the street and you will have found the shop. Now slowly push the door open and enter this den of decadent delights.

One of their specialities is "les larmes de Jeanne d'Arc" - Joan of Arc's tears, which are an almond and nougat concoction covered in chocolate.

They have a range of the aforementioned macaroons in many different colours and flavours and also a good selection of fudge.

What to buy: My favourite thing was the small baskets full of jagged sheets of chocolate, some with nuts or fruit, in different chocolate blends. They looked stunning and would have made great gifts.

In the end we bought a few different types of fudge and some cocoa covered almonds. Chris bought some fruit jelly's. We didn't buy any of the chocolate as the weather was warm and it wouldn't have travelled back to London too well in the car.

What to pay: You have to pay for quality

    Auzou Chocolate Shop

    by Voyageuse30 Updated Apr 4, 2011

    3.5 out of 5 starsHelpfulness

The chocolates in this small shop look too good to eat! They're expensive but most great chocolate doesn't come cheap. You can buy anything from one small morsel of chocolate to fancy gift sets that will cost you a pretty penny but who cares, you gotta live a little!
They sell some goodies other than chocolate as well.

What to buy: Their specialty: "tears of Joan of Arc"

What to pay: More than your average supermarket chocolate
