Auzou is the best chocolate maker in Rouen. It is working since 1634 in this house.
What to buy: Larmes de Jeanne d'Arc (Tears of Joan of Arc) : almond lightly grilled, added with nougatine and coated whith chocolate.
Agneau Rouennais (Rouen's lamb), kind of Genoa bread.
Confit de pommes
Macarons de Grand'mère Auzou
Plenty of shops in Rouen
There is no shortage of shops in Rouen. There's everything from the cheap clothing stores like Pim to the high-end stuff like Hugo Boss (and everything in between). There are also lots of make-up and perfume stores (Sephora being my personal favorite), bookstores, electronics stores, you name it. Most everything can be found by walking around the city center.
Rue St. Romain
Leaving St. Maclou behind us
and entering Rue St. Romain towards Cathedral Notre Dame. I saw some lovely shops here, a great hat shop (remember, I have a travelogue about my hat collection on my Netherlands page) and upmarket antique shops. Also some shops where you can have buy traditional, handpainted earthenware or have your own painted.
In Rouen, you will find plenty of Antiques. I don't know if this one is better than the others but I have spotted it as it was close to the Aître Saint Maclou, right by the side of the entrance.
