Right alongside the town of Lagny, near this launching ramp, seems a popular fishing spot. I must admit I didn’t actually see anyone catch a fish, but I’ve always suspected that much of the appeal of fishing is in just watching the water flow by! Then again, those swans presumably are there for some reason … are they expecting fish pieces or something by way of a few tidbits from the children? The little fellow in the orange shirt certainly seems to be taking an interest in them…

The two young ladies in my heading photo were just heading out for a training session as we passed the clubhouse of the Nautical Society of Lagny. Now, don’t imagine that “Nautical” is also about sailing, the “Aviron” sign on the clubhouse (photo 2) tells you that this is solely a rowing club! Going by the racks and the rowing sculls outside the clubhouse, the club must be quite active. In the third photo, we see a placard advising that, recently, the Club has proudly celebrated its centenary of operations: quite a significant achievement!
