Notre Dame is translated to mean Our Lady. The beautiful church is made famous by the story 'The Hunchback of Notre Dame' by Victor Hugo, and the animation. Somewhat different from the animation, you will still see the gargoyle, and the beautiful stained glass rose windows. Leave a Comment

Visit Notre Dame it is a beautiful catholic church. It has a museam inside and you can buy a coin that they release every year. I have the coin from 2000 and cost just 10 francs. Leave a Comment

This little known but an important metallic circular landmark which states POINT ZERO - DES ROUTES DES FRANCE and on which I am standing, is the focal point of distance measure in France.
I was lucky to have observed it while I was outside the Notre Dame.

You must visit the equally famous Basilica de Notre Dome, which was completed in 1345.The Cathedral represents a colorful visual view of the Bible. Adorning the arches on the doorways are many figures. The large magnificent stained-glass windows and the excellent cravings leaves you spellbound.
You will, no doubt, remember that Hugo's classic....The Hunchback of Notre Dome. After all these years, he might be still lurking around there. Don't mistake any genuine hunchback visitors in the crowd.

visit Notre-Dame (More pics are in Travelogue ^^)
The first day I arrived Paris, I didn't have any idea visiting which place. So I just took subway, and got off at a station where I guessed was almost around center of the city. After I got out of the subway station, walked for a while. I saw so familiar Notre-Dame just standing before my eyes!
I couldn't see it clearly under strong sunshine at noon. I walked around it first, then went into, just like went into a novel I read long time ago...

FIREWORKS BY THE NOTRE-DAME
I think I can justifiably say that my first visit to Paris was pretty well timed.
Parisians were celebrating the 50th anniversary of the liberation of Paris from
German occupation during WWII. The fireworks at the Notre-Dame Cathedral on 25th August 1994 marked the day's festivities to a really spectacular end.

Go to Notre Dame. But make sure you arrive well before the closing time.
I got there two hours before closing, but there were two lines -- one to go to the dome and one to enter the cathedral. I went into the main cathedral first and then found that the line to the dome was closed already!
