by ChicBaby The toilets at Notre Dame do not have a changing table (get used to it!) and the stalls which also have sinks and blowers do not have any room for changing diapers. The only other option is to change a diaper near the sitting area or hallway leading up to the toilets. You have no other option and you can go to a corner. You probably won’t bring your stroller here because there are about a flight of stairs to get to the hallway leading to the toilets. If you can change your baby in the stroller (recline it all the way and just do it), I would do it up in the square. If you don’t want to go down to the toilets because there will be people down there and they will stare and look at you…Change the baby in the square or on a bench. I did it very quickly on a park bench and I saw another couple changing a tiny baby in the stroller. It was cold, but sometimes you just can’t take the public staring. Also, obviously you can change the diaper in the church itself. It is quite dark in there, but there are always tons of people. Finding a space without getting in the way of camera may be difficult! Quick Burger was the only restaurant we ran into that had a changing table. Everywhere else did not have a changing table. In most places, there is no room in the stalls or much of any counter space near the sinks. I am lucky that my son can stand and he cooperates most of the time while we change him. Most of the time, we would change him in the sink area of the toilet area. This are is usually a common area and depending upon our son’s mood and what was in the diaper, my husband and I would both go and change the diaper. We would have one person make sure he would stay standing up and not run off and touch anything nasty. The other person would have to work quick to clean and change the diaper. We’re pretty good at this now and can get this done very quickly. Leave a Comment

Looking down from the Altitude 95 level by ChicBaby We were a bit disappointed by the toilets at Altitude 95. They were very dark, the paint color and lighting was dim, dirty and it smelled like urine. One of the toilets in the women’s room could not flush and the floor and counter by the sink was wet. I suppose no one was attending to the bathroom that day, but I was hoping for at least a clean floor or dry counter to change a diaper on my son. Leave a Comment

Walking in the gardens at Versailles by ChicBaby You should bring a stroller that you'll be able to collapse and carry. If the stroller does not have a carry strap, most don't, don't worry. You can make one. Simply take a shoulder strap from one of your bags and clip it on. My husband created fabric anchors to clip on two straps that worked like a backpack. We brought our Maclaren Techno XT 2004. This stroller is as wide as you should bring if you plan on squeezing through some of the turnstiles at the Metro (important to consider as you might have to do it!). This stroller is not superlight and there are much lighter ones, but there is a suspension system and larer wheels that did well on the regular cobble stones and dirt in Paris. If you're traveling during the cold and wet season, a plastic rain cover does wonders to stop the rain and cut out on the cold wind, which is what your child will call "the" wind chill factor. Your child will be spending a lot of time in there hopefully napping, so make sure it reclines if you want it to. Finally, don't use a blanket to keep your child warm in the stroller, use a bunting of some sort (i.e. Bundle Me) so they can't throw it into the street or kick it off. Leave a Comment

Colorful & Attractive... no, not me... the oblisk! by NC_Ziggy This was yet another example of art for the masses! I came upon this in the same area just a short walk from La Defense and again it adds and provides a contrast to what would be only buildings otherwise... As I scanned this picture, I noticed for the first time that while the oblisk seems to be perfectly vertical, the building in the background appears to be leaning inwards! Optical illusion? I have no idea... What do you think? Leave a Comment

Paris knows how to do it! by NC_Ziggy The most impressive thing about Paris, though it is a large city with many people and buildings, there is never a shortage of areas like this dedicated to beauty and art. It seems to add to the experience in a way that is quite unique. I wish that more cities could understand and appreciate this concept! What a Chamber of Commerce idea! This was located just off of La Defense and easy walking distance from the hotel. Don't ask me what it's supposed to represent as I suppose that is up to each person to interpret in their own way... I just know that it was interesting and a pleasure to find and can be found throughout Paris! Leave a Comment

The French make the most devine coffee & pastries by pigletsmom I don't think that Paris food is great, but overall the French food is wonderful. So with a little looking you can find a good meal. There are lots of tourist traps in Paris, where the food is medocre and the prices are high, so be aware. Stay away from restaurants with solicitors outside singing the praises of the restaurants. These are tourist traps with pre-set priced meals that are solely there for visitors. I do adore their quiche, coffee and pastries. Their wine is exquisite as well. If you do any souvenir shopping that includes food, buy it outside of Paris, or at a local Parisian supermarket,. The prices will be better as well as the quality. Do try the French quiche, it is nothing like what you get in the States. It literally melts in your mouth.Chocolate shops and ice cream parlors are also particularly good in Paris. I found the meat to always be sub-par, so that was my biggest complaint about the food in Paris. Beef, lamb, and chicken when I ordered it, always had a lot of grizzle. Sometimes the meat was not edible.
Creating an impromtu picnic with some wonderful cheese and a good baguet and finding a quiet spot in a Parisian park. That was nice. Do not miss my tips on the burnt peanuts and roasted chestnuts in the must see activity tips. Leave a Comment

by nvg Paris is one of those cities that is always on the move...but never seems to change. In the last 10 years of my visits to Paris.. I've noticed that the traffic has declined a bit. This is mainly because alot of people in Paris stopped owning a car. If you have a car driver's license you can drive a motorcycle up to 125CC. This is a good way to travel so you see alot of them around. You can also rent them there for a pretty reasonable price. This includes helmet rental. For some tourists it's better to travel with an organized tour bus company. Leave a Comment
