    Fête des Vendages de Montmartre

by gwened Updated Jul 7, 2015

This is a wonderful street party around the great tradition of wines of France; yes there is vinyards at Paris, there were many now there is some around and on Paris proper there is always Montmartre. It happens in october this time from the 7-11at the Butte.

This year is no difference great block party all over the butte. Now they will have the rosé wine cuvée des Poétes du Clos Montmartre 2013, and it changes every year. Ever since 1934, this block party happened around its 1 726 pieds of vinyards in the Butte. The Rosé is bio with a strawberry heart and nuances of fuchsia.

More than 40 spots around Montmartre and the 18ème arrondissement, with 10 tastings stands , parade and the fireworks of a master at the foot of Sacré Cœur. And to showcase always a wine from elsewhere, this year 2014 will have the cuvée Goutte d’Or 100% bio, Cour Cheverny, 2010 from Michel Gendrier tastings .

You can reach the Butte and areas of the vendage by bus lines 30 – 31 – 80 – 85 – 54 – 67 – 60 – 95, and the metro stations stops at Jules Joffrin (Line 12), Lamarck Caulaincourt (12), Blanche ( 2), Pigalle ( 12 or 2), Anvers ( 2) + Funiculaire, Abbesses (12), Château Rouge ( 4 and 12) as well as the Funiculaire with the directions lower base or Gare Basse : Place Suzanne Valadon and high base or Gare Haute : Rue du Cardinal Dubois

And this in French is where they will be this year. but stay tune for next year too.

In many areas of Paris you will find "street artists", but especially in Montmartre! Monmartre is known as an artists' community and you'll have plenty of opportunities to have a painting done of you or buy some artwork. Monmartre is well worth visiting as it has a unique atmosphere compared to the rest of Paris.

When I arrived to visit the Sacre Coeur I was surprised to find a lot of policeman and crowds of people. After enquiring, I found out that the Stations of the Cross was about to take place. This entails people singing hymns walking, kneeling and praying their way up the stairs into the church.
