Romance & The Erotic, Paris
Paris, the capitol of love, has no museum of love--but they do have one paying homage to the wild world of sex!
The rare exhibition at this museum has prints and videos, photographs and african wood sculpture, pottery exploiting sex 2,000 years ago, erotic snuff bottles, Japanese sex education books, Chinese sex manuals, lithographs, chastity belts, photographs of luxury and popular brothels when they were legal.
Warning: doesn't leave much to the imagination!
The Museum of Erotic Art is towards Place de Clichy, just before the Moulin Rouge. (Look for the two stone sculptures flanking the entrance.)

Le musée de la vie romantique (The romantic life museum) is a small museum very hard to find but very very nice!!

It should not be a surprise that Paris has a Musée de l'Erotisme ("Museum of the Erotic"). If this genre of art appeals to you, you will find this museum fascinating. The collection is extensive, multicultural, and spans all ages of humanity.
Open daily, from 10 AM till 2 AM. There are four floors of exhibits, plus a museum shop.
72, boulevard Clichy

The first times I went to Paris, never give much attention to Pigalle area. This time I decide to make a short trip (day and night) along the sex-shops and feel the ambience ... a lot to see, learn and experience.
Went to Sex Museum, bought a film (black & white from begining of XX century), made a visit to the sex supermarket and watch the neons around Moulin Rouge.
Hidden away in one of the most infamous streets of Paris, well known for its "working girls" is this building, covered in tiles, that was one of the famous "maisons closes" - brothels closed, down just 65 years ago. Formerly known as "Aux Belles Poules" the building has been classed as a "monument historique" !!!!! What next...... The street is named after architect Francois Blondel who designed the Porte St. Denis, built in 1672, just round the corner.
Strasbourg-St. Denis is the closest metro.
Sharing the neighborhood with the infamous Moulin Rouge in the Red Light District, the Musuem of Eroticism is seven floors of erotic objects and art gathered from around the world. Collections are both tasteful and tacky, provoking and entertaining. From the phallic to the vulva, the adults are sure to get a kick out of this joint. The museum is open 7 days a week from 10am to 2am and charges a fee of 8 euros.
If you like old jewelry and such there is a store at 362 Rue St. Honore called Dary's that has been there since the 1930's and has wonderful things. I got a pair of cuff-links made from ancient Greek coins earlier this September. The staff is extremely nice and helpful and the stock is great for browsing.
Have a good time!
Go stroll along the notrious street along Montmartre and you'll find Musée de l'Erotisme.
See an assortment of erotic art through hundreds of years.
Address: 72, bd de Clichy, 18th arrondissement
Metro: Pigalle or Anvers
Musée de l'Erotisme - obvisouly located near Place Pigalle, and obviously over 18 only. This rule is not strict however: I managed to have some youngers students go in, with the result that they came out shocked and might decide never to have a sex-life again. Moralist parents will surely thank me.
You will find around the Sacré Coeur a lot of romantic streets and corners... very inspiring even if it rains!
