There are 2 airports: Charle de Gaulle and Orly. Charlle de Gaule has 2 terminals and it's one of the biggest in the world. I used both Charlle de Gaulle 2 (when I had flight from Moscow and back) and Charlle de Gaulle 1 (when I had a flight to Germany). You can go to the airport by RER, line B. Moreover TGV (speedy train) has a station in Terminal 2. From TGV station and RER station there are a lot of busses to the terminal you need.

Paris Beauvais may have a rich cultural avionic heritage, but in the modern era it is a little airport servicing four or five low-cost airlines, including Ryanair (of course).

At least this means that the time you spend in the airport is minimal, and delays are unusual. On the downside the transfers to the centre of Paris are Longer - it is some 80Kms, and if you are delayed at the airport there is precious little to do.

Airport buses are some 13Euro One-way and leave 20 mins after each flight arrives - tickets can be booked online.

Charles de Gaulle Airport is one of the largest airports in Europe. Some of the VT posts here actually add to the confusion like referring to "Terminal 2" as if it was one building: Terminal 2 now has five sub-terminals.
If you are arriving at CDG there is a small airport brochure which is available in stands all over each terminal is extremely useful for information about when you depart. All the sub-terminals of Terminal 2 are used by Air France and members of the Skyteam alliance. It also handles flights that are code-sharing with Air France and that includes an eclectic mix of airlines. However, since the closure of 2E, Air Canada has moved all its flights to Terminal 1.
You need to check which Terminal 2 building your flight is going to use. 2E is closed indefinitely. 2F has one wing (low numbered gates) for AF/Skyteam/codeshare AF flights to the Schengen countries and the other wing (high numbered gates) to non-Schengen EU flights and some long-haul fights (including Brasil, Japan, some US flights).
If you are arriving by car or bus and don't know your Terminal 2 building, get off at Terminal 2C or 2D (less walking) and check the TV screens (the big roof mounted monitors ONLY show the flights for that terminal).
If you are transferring at CDG it is usually quicker leaving the building and walking to the relevant Terminal. The bus transfer can be incredibly slow.

Terminal 3 is used by a low budget airlines (e.g. Easyjet) or airlines from impoverished airlines.

Terminal 1 is used by all other airlines, including those of the Star Alliance and oneWorld (except those that codeshare with AF)! Yes, it is confusing!

Aeroports de Paris have a very helpful website, with a lot of useful information at http://www.adp.fr
It includes detailed plans of each terminal, phone numbers of the airlines, and updated timetables that include the revised terminal details.
There is an English and Spanish language versions (use the same URL, scroll down to the bottom of the page and click on 'Welcome' or 'Bienvenido').

The area where Air Europa arrives and departures is not one of the best ones I have seen in my life.

No duty free (a tiny one and closing it in front of us), no toilets inside, no smoking area... I guess if I can choose in the future Orly would be my best choice!

Orly airport would appear to be the perfect breeding ground for rabbits. In such a protected compound they breed, well like rabbits I suppose.

The last time I visited, in transit, they were hopping around all over the place.

I have no doubt that the French Airport authorities have since dealt with them using a mixture of ruthless Galliic efficiency combined with a deep and abiding love for God's creatures. That and a family-sized tub of Warferin.

The airport is much closer (14kms) than Pari's other airports and is well connected to the city. If you are on an internal flight or on Easyjet you will probably arrive here. Some 30 odd other airlines on longer routes also still use the place. I certainly find it a quicker and easier place to use, rather than CDG.

Most long distance international flights land at Charles de Gaulle-Roissy. Since the collapse of part of the new Terminal 2 there have been many adjustments to normal gate locations for various airlines and destinations. So be sure to check with your airline and with the website for CDG.
    .
Terminal 1 is architecturally interesting, but exceedingly annoying to use.

  • Give your self plenty of time to get through this airport, we were in line for over 2 1/2 hours to check in at the Air France desk! Some of this delay may have been weather related and some may have been security related as we were traveling over the holiday.

But there were at least 2 other Air France desks that had only a small number of passengers waiting, it seems as though they could have allocated the passengers better.

Another note, we were at Terminal 2 and once we got past passport control there was only a snack bar serving overpriced baguettes, chips, and $5 softdrinks. So don't plan on eating once you get past passport control.

  • ... you can fly into Paris. I've done this once and it was pretty uneventful as flights go. It was on British Airways from Heathrow to Charles de Gaulle airport. With more competition, it's a cheaper flight now than when I took it a few years ago! However, having tried the Eurostar, the train has the edge for me - definitely a less stressful experience.

Other airlines flying from the UK into Paris include BMI, Easyjet and (of course) Air France. There are sometimes particularly good deals on Easyjet if you book far enough in advance.

If your airline flies into Charles de Gaulle airport, so much the better - the RER rail line now runs there, taking you straight into central Paris.

    Beautiful Gare de Lyon

You can get to Paris either by plane or by train, and both methods are just fine. Paris has 2 main airports: Charles de Gaulle -CDG- (where I usually fly into and is located in the north east of Paris) and Orly (located in the south); a smaller airport (Beauvais, mainly used by the budget airlines and quite small and inconvenient) and many train stations, such as Gare de Lyon (shown on the picture). All of the airports and train stations are connected to the Metro and/or RER (regional train) network, so you don't have to spend a fortune in a taxi to get to downtown Paris as it was the case many years ago.

In my personal case, I took the RER + metro from CDG airport (I've flown from Mex City to Paris directly with Air France and via London with British Airways) all the way to Gare de Lyon train station, which was only 2 blocks away from the hotel I was staying at. You can do the same if you arrive at any other of the train stations located in Paris - it's easy to move from one place to the other using the extensive metro/RER network.

If you arrive by plane, there are also buses (such as the so called Roissy-Bus) which will take you from the CDG airport to the Opera Garnier, and Air France cars that will take you from either of the 2 airports to different spots in Paris for a fee of around 9-15 EUR (per person) depending on where you're going (for more info on the latter check website provided).

If arriving to Orly, they also have 2-3 different options to go to Paris, besides the AF Cars: you can take buses to nearby RER stations or a fast train called ORLYVAL which takes you to the Antony RER station; then you can go anywhere you want within the metro network.

There are also different options to transfer between these 2 airports, with Orlyval, Orlybus and AF cars.
