Nothing like they have in the U.S. If you order the hot chocolate, it is actually called "le chocolat africain", I believe. The atmosphere is very pleasant, and the decor is very beautiful. Dim lighting, antique looking furniture, and mirrors. A very romantic, yet busy setting.
It's all about the hot chocolate! This is what this cafe is famous for! Leave a Comment Theme: FrenchPrice: US$11-20 » Currency ConverterComparison: about averageAddress: 226 rue de Rivoli, 75001 ParisDirections: Near Place de la Concord

The best way to start your morning is to have a hot chocolate drink at the ‘must visit’ Angelina, at 226 rue de Rivoli. The whole atmosphere of the place adds to the experience. The service is also second to none. We visited the place on two consecutive days and the maitre immediately recognised us on the second day and sat us on a table in no time. While enjoying another jug of the heavenly chocolate drink, another maitre brought a second jug of chocolate (!!!), compliment of the first maitre for us being regulars at the place. Do not leave Paris until you visit this place.
We tried the signature products of this popular tea salon. ‘Le Chocolat Africain’ was a jug of real thick hot chocolate, served with a pot of whipped cream, so you can make your own cup. It tasted fantastic and as my friend said, it can make any woman forget her stress and her man!! We also tried the ‘Fragilite Pistache’ which was a slice of dessert with pistachio flavour and another signature dessert of that place, ‘Mont Blanc’, a meringue base piled with chestnut puree and whipped cream. Bost fantastic. You can also buy a box of their home made chocolates to take with you. We stumbled upon here on our way to Le Louvre around 10:30AM, no waiting- got right in! I'm not much of a chocoholic (although my wife has been known to indulge), but the chaud chocolat was INCREDIBLE! According to the menu, it's a 100-year old recipe that's zealously guarded. Pastries were delicious too. A bit pricey but not outrageous- must try!
Hot chocolate of course. Leave a Comment Theme: BreakfastPrice: US$11-20 » Currency ConverterComparison: more expensive than averageAddress: 226 rue de Rivoli, 75001 ParisDirections: Across from Jardin des Tuileries

This is the place for the best hot chocolate I have ever had. Very thick and rich… make sure you didn't eat for couple of days before you order the house special Mont Blanc cake made of whipped cream and chestnuts cream... I had an easy Ramadan fasting after that, i stayed full for few months!!! Angelina, a stunning place to stop for Afternoon Tea. The romantic, elegant and impressive decor lends to a fantasy that Marie Antoinette might walk in at any moment. In this lovely restaurant, one doesn't have to dream. The prices are high, but not extravagantly so. You may have to wait in line for a few minutes, but the experience of eating here is worth the wait.
My friends and I shared several cakes and pastries! Each item was rich and mouth watering delicious. I can't remember the specific names of our treats, but can assure you that the pastry chef is excellent and you will not be disappointed with anything you choose to order. There are many places in Paris said to have the best chocolat chaud (hot chocolate). My girlfriend's favorite is Lenôtre, specifiacally the location on Rue Cler. Another loves the chocolat served at her corner cafe. But for me, and a lot of others, the best, most decedant chocolat chaud served in Paris as at Agelina. First, the room is charming in a shabby chic sort of way, after all it's been keeping Parisiens and visitors happy since 1903. And it's the whole experience of the service. What makes their chocolat different? The chocolate tastes as if it was just melted (or concocted) as it was brought to your table. It is rich and velvety beyond compare. It is accompanied by a pitcher of whipped (unsweetened) cream. Then you play mad chemist (or chocoholic) and make your mixture. You won't forget it! I have enjoyed the chocolat chaud at any time of day. As a start to a busy day early in the morning to with croissants, for lunch, after enjoying a delicious quiche Lorraine, and in the afternoon, after a chilly walk in the nearby Tuilleries. There is often a line here, which should tell you soething! If you LOVE chocolate, make the time to include Angelina in your plans...you won't be sorry!
In case you couldn't figure it out, my favorite "dish" here is the chocolat chaud! Leave a Comment Theme: LocalPrice: less than US$10 » Currency ConverterComparison: about averageAddress: 226 rue de Rivoli, 75001 ParisDirections: Near Place de la Concord opposite the Tuilleries

Make sure to order the Afrikan hot chocolate and mix lots of the whip cream in with it. The hot chocolate is so decantly thick and delicous its a meal in itself. But if you do have room order a Croque Monsieur. There is always a queue there. You may have to wait 10-15 minutes. This is a very touristy place. I do not like such places, but my friend said we should go, so we went there. It is somewhere in Rue de Rivoli opposite Tuilries gardens, close to Concord.
They say the best hot chocolate in Paris is served in this place. Maybe it's true. What they have is their specialty "Hot Chocolate Africano (? - do not remember the name correctly but something about Africa"), and a dessert "Monblan". Monblan was delicious, "African" hot chocolate too, but a way too thick for me. They serve it in a big pot (enough for 2 big cups) with water and veeery thick cream! Increadible. But worth trying. Once. Afer Angelina, I feel totally fed up with hot chocolate:) for the nearest future at least.
