The complex of the mosque of Paris includes a North African tearoom and restaurant. I visited the lovely inner garden with figues trees and fountains of this teahouse for the first time in the early nineties. Early morning I was almost the only visitor drinking my mint tea in a serene atmosphere. The last time in 2005 I visited the innergarden in the late afternoon. It was very lifely with lots of visitors.
The teahouse and restaurant decorated in North African style are open from 9am till 11.30pm. You can come for a tea or arabian coffee with sweets, for a snack, for lunch or dinner. The menu offers delicious tajines and couscous. A very nice place to have a lunch or a drink in a very relaxed and colourful environment is the Salon de Thé that belongs to La Mosquée, Paris' biggest mosque near the Jardin des Plantes in arrondissement 5.
In a beautifully decorated inner square you can enjoy a glass of mint tea, several dishes like couscous or try a waterpipe, or shisha. The scenery is very arabic with mosaics, cast-iron lamps, beautiful paintings inside and an audience that is mostly of arabic origins.
The prices are not high in comparison with places further towards the centre and the personnel is very nice. If you are in the neighbourhood, you should definitely come and see this Salon de Thé!
