CAFES (Deux Magots)
One of the most pleasant pastimes in Paris is sitting at a table outside a café, watching the world go by. For the price of a café crème, you may linger as long as you like--read the paper, have a meal, or plan your next move while resting your feet. Cafés are found around every bend in Paris--you may prefer a posh perch at a renowned spot such as the Deux Magots (170 blvd, St Germain, 6th . Métro stop: St-Germain-des-Prés. Open: 8h - 02h Daily; closed second week of January. Named after the two wooden statues (the two magots) which still dominate the room, Les Deux Magots is one the most famous cafés in Paris. Jean-Paul Sartre, and Hemingway were both patrons in an earlier era.) or opt for a tiny café du coin (corner café) where you can have a quick cup of coffee at the counter.

LE DEUX MAGOTS is my favorite sidewalk cafe...Its a bit expensive, but so is everywhere else in Paris. The dollar/franc rate isnt too appealing these days and deals are hard to find. Sartre and Hemingway both frequented this place..you can almost hear the accordian music...ooo la la!

The location of Les Deux Magots affords lots of people watching. So grab a table and sit for as long as you wish.
Les Deux Magots
This is a famous cafe on the Bl St. Germain in the 6th arrondissement. It's a very plush cafe, with rather too-expensive coffee for my budget.
Les deux Magots: Les deux Magots
A fixture in Paris culture. Everybody that was somebody has eaten there. Just sit and enjoy the view.
Favorite Dish: The least possible, maybe a coffee.
Even a cube of butter will cost you 2-3 francs.
