We were spending night at Monte Matre and waiting for the Sacre Coeur lights go off (witch they didn´t. I guess they don´t do that anymore, too bad!) and tried to find something we like for reasonable price. I would have liked to eat out, but since we didn´t find anything we like from places with tables outside, we went here. It looked quite "cheap" outside, but was nicer inside. There was even a piano player playing while we ate. Staff was friendly, house wine was good and we got bread while waiting.
I just found 12 tips of this place at Trip advisor and some people had given 5 stars and some only one.. Strange. Maybe it depends whos working at that night. Someone said that piano player comes asking tips at tables. He didn´t while we were there!
Favorite Dish: Spaghetti with cream and garlic was good, we both had it. Maybe more simple than we usually eat at restaurants, but it was quite cheap also. And parmesan cheese was a good extra. They got it to the table. Desserts didn´t sound so special, so we choosed to buy creps after, and didn´t take any dessert.
They did have pizza also. I would say it´s an italian restaurant, some review said it French.

I don´t understand why I don´t find any info about the place at internet. It is seen at google street view, so I could check it really is real ;) There is restaurant Devez next to it, but no mention about George V. I even wonder, could they be the same restaurant? But the had different look and different menu.
Anyway.. It was our wedding anniversary and we were planning to go to restaurat recommended to us on the other side of the street. It was called Chez Francis. We didn´t make a reservation ( we never do at hollidays) but we saw many people going in without reservation (we heard the lady at "gate" asking if the do have reservation. Everyone got in, even people in front of us at line, with sports jackets. Then came our turn. Lady looked us front shoes to head and asked if we had reservation. We said no, and she said "sorry, there´s no room for you". After us there came a coupple without reservation and was guided to a table.. So I guess they didn´t think we would suit their place.. I think we had better clothes than those in sports jackets, but maybe it was our long black hair (also my husband has it) and all black clothes. It made me sad, and somehow we thought we wouldn´t even want to go to place like that :( Then we crossed the street and ended up to this friendly restaurat with very good food and it was even cheaper. I was liitle sad about not having a view to Eiffel tower, but we felt very wellcome, so.. We could see the tower later :)
I will add the photo soon!
Favorite Dish: I had steak with bearnaise sauce ( you might think it´s my favurite sauce, since I had it at three different restaurants. Real reason was that they did allways seem to have either bearnaise or pepper sauce. In Finland it´s peppersauce everywhere with steak, so that´s why I didn´t want it here. ) and it was very good. I asked for medium + done, and it was perfect. My husband had some kind of chicken and smashed potatos and liked it also. I did have creme brulee again ( I just can´t resist it, since it´s very rear in Finland) and my husband had apple pie. Both were good, and wine was good, even if we choosed the second cheapest one.
The good food and service made me forget how the treated us at the neighbour. Maybe it felt even worse there because we had dressed our best and it was our wedding anniversary. Some people has asked abroad my husband if he´s a rock star. We made fun about going to that restaurant and askin "Don´t you know who I am!!??" and see if they would have asked us in then ;) He really isn´t a rock star, I don´t know why people ask so.

We had attended mass at St Eustache and were looking for lunch. We figured a place named La Père Tranquille couldn't be bad and we were right. Charming inside with a standard bistro-type menu, we enjoyed our lunch. Be sure to watch the you tube video listed under "other."
Favorite Dish: I had the Croque Monsieur and you can see the corner of my spouse's pancakes!

Again it was non-French night so down rue Tournelle we went, ending up at L'Area. It is touted as Brazilian/Lebanese, but we definitely headed for the latter. The food was fresh and just what we needed. The owner was very friendly as he seated us behind the bar area. We shared the space with a young French mother, her toddler and her friend. It was a very pleasant evening.
Favorite Dish: We had the usual suspects--kebab, hummus, tabbouleh etc...

Every once in a while you just want something other than French food in Paris. Rue des Tournelles near our hotel had several options, among them Rusti. The food was a bit rustic and very tasty.
The wall decorations are of vintage pinups and the whole "feel" is retro.
Favorite Dish: I loved my ravioli alla contadina stuffed with ricotta and basil.

Across the road from our Hotel du Lion stay, there a food street where there alot of cafe and brasseire. We were spoilt for choice. We, finally, decided to have our dinner at Cafe Daguerre.
This place was crowded when we went in for dinner. The service staff can speak English and was able to explain the menu items pretty well.
Service was good but the food took awhile as the place is crowded.

When to this Cafe du Rendez-vous across the road from our hotel for breakfast. The place is pretty quiet for breakfast and, partly, because it is past the morning rush hour anyway.
Had a little difficulty with the menu and one of the staff managed to explain the menu but wasn't very good in English.
I had a sunny side up while my wife had a basket of different kinds of bread.

This tiny patisserie / restaurant is hidden away in the 7th arrondissement not far from the Eiffel Tower. You will see few tourists here and the owners are your servers. The other patrons are regulars and they cheerfully engage you in conversation, even commenting on your choice of wine. We were looking for another restaurant and it required reservations. We had just landed so didn't have any and didn't know this particular neighborhood so we looked around and found this magical little patisserie and restaurant across the street. It was a real find!
It's larger than it looks because there is a back room and if the weather permits, there is outside seating. Madame and Monsieur are both good humored and helpful and the cooking is out of this world, including the pastries if you just want to pop in for tea and pastry.
I think what impressed us the most was when we returned a couple times for breakfast, they remembered us. Our last day they even opened 15 minutes early so we could eat before we had to leave for the airport and they both came out to bid us bon voyage. We felt like we belonged. If anyone ever tells you Parisians are aloof or snobs, they should meet this couple; they are truly kind people.
Favorite Dish: Here's my journal entry for the first meal:
A pleasant couple runs it and she speaks quite good English. They seated us and we quickly decided on the Menu €14.50. We all agreed on osso buco du dinde (turkey) on linguine and it was great. As a starter, my husband got a caprese and the rest of us got paté a la campagne . . . again, excellent. Our youngest & I got mi-cuit chocolat (like truffles or fondant au chocolat) while my husband and our eldest each got a citron tart. All of us were delighted.
We had been given a choice of Bordeaux or Beaujolais and chose the latter to congratulations from a nearby Frenchman. It was all excellent. The restaurant filled up quickly with nearby residents and workers.

Visit 1:
A steak dinner - the food was good, however the service was a little hit and miss. However, it should be noted that our waitress seemed to have a sore leg, or an injured ankle.
After four requests, I finally was given a bottle of sparkling water - three seperate waiting staff. On my second attempt i was given a glass of ice.
Visit 2:
We made a second visit, and the service was much better - and the food was the same quality. The restaurant seemed busier than last night, even though it was a Sunday. The atmosphere was better on the second visit too.
Favorite Dish: Excellent bread - I had a Chateaubriand steak with pepper sauce.
