See all Paris Restaurants | | Paris Man Ray Reviews | 1 - 6 of 6 | | This restaurant, located in an old movie theater, opened with a big bang seven years ago. Close to the Champs Elysées, Man Ray caters to the in crowd. Johnny Depp, John Malkovich, Sean Penn, and Mick Hucknall (Simply Red) are partners in the business. The décor is pseudo-nouveau-Asian meets bordello deco, and everything is done on the grand scale. Le Man Ray is open seven days a week. The bar is open every night until 2 AM, except Friday when it is open “until dawn.” In the early evenings you can hear live jazz. Fridays from 0h30 (half past midnight) on, a DJ plays fine music—you can sample the musical styles by buying a Man Ray CD. The menu leans in the Asian direction as well, including sushi and wok works. If you are looking for intimate dining, or simply good food, look elsewhere. People give this place very mixed reviews. I was there only once for dinner, which was OK. Some people like the atmosphere, crowd, and ambiance. Others claim it is pretentious, overpriced, touristy, and offers lousy service. The dining room is huge and bustling, the décor is overwhelming, the people are beautiful, the music is great, the drinks are expensive… if that is your cup of tea, enjoy! Named after the American Surrealist photographer. Many of his photographs are on display throughout the restaurant. The decor, by Miguel Cancio Martins, is merely sublime. Check out the mezzanine bar where you can order a Singapore Sling and have some very tasty sushi. The place is often booked for private parties, so call in advance to make sure... This is one of the really cool hang out and chill place in Paris. The decor is strictly Tibetian/Asian fusion and the bar is on the second floor surrounding the main dinning room(on the lower floor). Food is fusion French/Japanese. Music is house and low key...
The dessert! The best Chocolate cake with warm liquid chocolate hidden inside!!! Man Ray, born Emmanuel Radnitzky (August 27, 1890 – November 18, 1976), was an American artist who spent most of his career in Paris, France. Perhaps best described simply as a modernist, he was a significant contributor to both the Dada and Surrealist movements, although his ties to each were informal. They named this trendy place after him, I could see why but still not sure. The restaurant serves dishes from all over the world at its best, service is wonderful and the crowd is very coooool mix. after 11 the place turn into a lounge/club.
