The amuse bouche was gazpacho with a scoop of mustard ice cream floating in it...sounds bizarre, but was actually brilliant. Fois gras to die for, and loved the lobster stew. This is a great restaurant, and according to Zagat's the best in Paris.
Favorite Dish: The deceptive simplicity of the gazpacho with mustard ice cream just blew me away.

Taillevent is one of the few restaurants in the world with 3 Michelin stars, most of which are in France and the majority of these are in Paris. Call me a cynic but, having lunched at Taillevent (5th April 2004) I think the star system is much more to do with the atmosphere, the service and the reputation of the restaurant than any true innovation in the cooking.
We had the 7 course menu degustation (130 euros) and whilst it was certainly fine, it didn't really have a wow factor. Mind you, we certainly didn't need dinner.
If you want to be completely pampered, experience some of the world's best restaurant service, and tell your friends you've been here, then by all means go. But if you're a guy, don't forget your jacket and tie and women - wear something smart!
Favorite Dish: Langoustine ravioli - in a superb broth with beautiful deep green basil oil.
