Arch de Triomphe by bduffy007 After the Eiffel Tower this is the next most recognizable spot in Paris. The arch was completed in 1836 and was supposedly commissioned by Napoleon himself in honor of his army. The Arch stands 164 feet high and you can go to the top of the Arch to view Paris. I was completely unaware of this until I began researching for my Paris trip. The Arch sits at the top of the Champs des Elysees and from the arch you can view the 12 boulevards that eminate from her. I heard stories of people crossing the traffic circle in front of the arch to reach her (not a good idea as you can imagine) the best bet is the underground tunnel which prevents the dangerous traffic in and around the Arch Leave a Comment Directions: Metro Line 1, 2, RER A : Charles-de-Gaulle Etoile

Arc de Triomph by aero198 Arc de Triomph is similar to other arches I've seen, the difference is its monumetal size. Located at the top of the Champs-Elysees, it's one of Paris's typical symbols. It was constructed by command of Napoleon, celebrating the French Army. Directions: Metro Line 1, 2, RER A : Charles-de-Gaulle Etoile

Arc de Triomphe by rochellevm Arc de Triomphe stands in the centre of the Place Charles de Gaulle, at the western end of the Champs-Élysées. It is one of the famous monuments that is identified with France, so it is worth a visit. Since Champs-Élysées is just a short walk from the Arc, if you're into shopping, then you can go head straight to Champs-Élysées from the Arc. It was commissioned by Napoleon to signify their victories (triumphs) thus the name. It has so much character and detail that distinguishes it from other arches. I took my pic from pavement as im a coward by sparkieplug24 Arc de triomphe is probably one of the best known landmarks in Paris only second to the Eiffel Tower. People actually stand in the middle of the roads to get their picture taken in front of it. You can go inside and there is a small museum. The unknown soldiers tomb is also located here. You can climb to the top of the arc also. Leave a Comment Directions: Metro Line 1, 2, RER A : Charles-de-Gaulle Etoile

Obligatory picture of arc by Nexus7 Arc de triomphe. You have to see this for the beauty of Paris. It's a must and it's pretty easy to get there. When you see it, you will say, I'm really in France. Wow! It's protected by a traffic circle, which you must go underneath. Leave a Comment Directions: Metro Line 1, 2, RER A : Charles-de-Gaulle Etoile
