Champes de elysees at night -- BUSY

Walking the Champes Elysess is another thing that one has to do while in Paris. It's the FEEL and the LOOK of the place and the people that this street emits. Just window shopping along this avenue is amazing! Sit and have a coffee at McDonalds -- it's affordable and you don't have to say you had a McDonalds coffee, just that you had a coffee along the Champes Elysees!

Yes, this is a broad avenue in the heart of Paris. I visited this famous street twice and had the chance to experience what my friends told me not to miss. It is a very touristy place and the busiest street I have ever seen in Paris so far. Busy in the sense that you can find almost everything in here. Restaurants & cafes, cinemas, auto displays, specialty shops and brand name luxury stores like Cartier, Lacoste, Nike, Guerlain, and Louis Vuitton to name a few. I sat, I walk, got hungry and eat. First time we went, we had light meal at McDo and the second day we had lunch at a little bit expensive restaurant with Pasta & Pizza.

I would recommend that when you visit Champs Elysees, you may want to spend the whole day by visiting other adjoining tourist attractions. Aside from the too many shops and cafes along the avenue, you may go visit the Arc de Triomphe which is situated at the end of the Camps Elysees at the centre of the Place de l'Etoile.

Paris is a city in my Top 5 list to be visited more than once. It is number one with Rome, Cyprus, Jerusalem, London on the 2nd, 3rd, 4th & 5th post respectively.

It was a wonderful experience at Champs Elysees. For sure you will not miss the avenue. If you are in Arc de Triomphe and ready to go, just follow a flock of people and tourist alike walking towards this renowned street. Please remember when you are in Paris...Champs Elysees!

The Champs-Élysées is probably one of Paris' most beautiful avenues and has been given the name "La plus belle avenue du monde" in French, meaning just that. Lining the road are shoping arcades, airline offices, bars and restaurants as well as plenty of cinemas and cafe's. At night the lighting is fantastic and the mood is very animated.

Prior to 1616 the Champs Elysee's was just fields until Marie de Medicis deceived to put in a pathway lined with trees.

champs lyses with the arc de triomphe

Les Champs Elysees (Elysian fields) were originally nothing but fields, until Marie de Medicis decided in 1616 to put up a long tree-lined pathway, now Les Champs Elysees is one of the most famous streets in the world, with the Arc de triomphe in front it became one of the symbols of paris.

Champs Elysees refers to the "Elysian Fields" where happy souls dwelt after death, according to Greek mythology. It is a popular tourist destination and links Arc de Triomphe to place de la Concorde. I did enjoy myself walking along the streets especially the Disney store, Nike outlet and Planet Hollywood Cafe. It is definitely a good shopping place for branded goods.

Wander up and down the Champs-Elysées

This is the most well known street in Paris. It is full of everything that a tourist could want for. Plenty of shops, designer and otherwise, to buy that all important gift for back home. Plenty of restaurants and bars to re-energise the weary walker, and at either end of the street we have two of the worlds most iconic monuments, the Arc de Triomphe and the other the Place de la République.

It can get a bit too busy, and you'll have to watch the prices before using the bars and restaurants, but it's well worth the look.

The Champs Elysées, which means Elysian fields, were originally nothing but fields, until Marie de Medicis decided in 1616 to put up a long tree-lined pathway. In 1667, Le Notre extended the vista of the Tuileries and the Champs-Elysees became a very fashionable place to walk. The avenue was extended up to Chaillot hill, now the site of the Arc de Triomphe and the place de l'Etoile, in 1724; but the avenue did not become city property until 1828, when they added footpaths, fountains and gas-lighting.

Between the Arc de Triomphe and the Rond Point des Champs Elysees, it's actually quite a boring walk; but from there to the Louvre it becomes delightful as you are walking through parks, which eventually become the Jardin des Tuileries.

Champs Elysee is great if you love shopping.

It has a variation of stores from the expensive Louis Vuitton, Bulgari jewellery, shoe boutiques including designer shoes from Dolce and Gabbana, Christian Laboutin, Patrick Cox, Matthew Williamson and Gina heels (wow). I was in heaven but its not cheap. Bought a pair of Charles Jourdan heels for 240 euros in the end.

You also have the more reasonable clothes stores like H&M, and Morgan de toi, Diesel and Miss Sixty also.

Off one of the roads from the Champs Elysee you will find bar Man Ray, one of the best bars in Paris and owned by the gorgeous Johnny Depp and the not so gorgeous Sean Penn! It is on 34 Rue Marboeuf website is www.manray.fr/ .
