Sparkling like a Glow Bug at Night by bpacker It's a must see, ooh, a must see. How could you go to Paris and not see the magical French eptiome? Your first sight of La Tour Eiffel will be a magical experience, so here's a tip to make it more memorable... Go to the tower during the night, just before the top of every hour (eg.10pm, 11pm) and the Eiffel tower will sparkle for a full ten minutes for you. If that's not enough, hang out at the Trocadero cafes till 2am..something magical will happen... The lights of the tower will be switched off and the sparkly lights will twinkle magically for 10minutes. It's quite a spectacle, if you're still awake. (Since I can't make my picture sparkle, click the website below to see what I mean..) Leave a Comment

What in the World is Going on Below? by NC_Ziggy In every direction the view is simply breath-taking! I could have stayed here for hours! But as you travel and view with a bird's eye down upon a vast city filled with commerce and people just like you and me, do you ever wonder what is going on inside these buildings and homes? What monumental decisions are being made inside the halls of power? What vast sums of money are being made and lost? What lives are being forever changed with sensual touches of love and intimacy? What lives are being destroyed by darkened souls who abuse and control their companions or family? What incredible and despicable things are happening beneath your very eyes? Do you Ever Wonder? The Eiffel Tower at night, a view from Trocadero by joiwatani, 4 more photos Once you get into the city, you can't miss the Eiffel Tower. But, make sure to go and check it out up close. Personally, I like to see the tower at night when the lights are flickering. It is kind of wonderful to see it in the beginning. It is kind of magical, I would say, since it is my first time to see this famous landmark of France. The tower is also beautiful at the daytime. But, to go to the tower, there is always a line of tourists and visitors willing to wait for hours to go up to the third floor or up to the top. For me, I don't have enough time and maybe someday, I can come back and do that when I have time on my hands. But, at this point in time, my concern was to go for the VT meeting at Les Bosquet and meet with some fantastic Virtual Tourist members! Directions: You can't miss it!!!

Yet another view... can't have too many! by NC_Ziggy Simply, there is no greater view of any city that I have ever visited that can compare to this view! It is breathtaking and truly amazing! As you look out upon this magnificent city, perhaps you may begin to realize how many have been here before you... the rich, the royal, the famous, the poor, the wretched, the conquerors, and the defeated. And, most of us who wish to visit here for the first time or again and again! Leave a Comment Directions: You can't miss it!!!

What an Experience! by NC_Ziggy The only thing that could have improved this experience was having greater knowledge of the landmarks and the sights that I was observing... But even without this, it was still memorable! You have to do this someday! The only thing in my mind that could improve upon this experience is to be there with your most special someone and thereby create a bond of love and a memory that you will share forever! Did you know the Eiffel Tower is.......BROWN?!?! I didn't. Too many black and white photos we've been exposed to. I always thought it was grey...until I saw it for the first time through the cab window as my French cab driver was racing Kamakazi-style through the Paris streets so I could catch my TGV on time. It was a combination Eureka and Near-Death-Experience for me!! Hence, that moment and the sight of the Eiffel Tower in brown will forever be etched in my memory. There's the Arc de Triomphe, from the Eiffel Tower by spgood301, 4 more photos I waited some 90 minutes to get to the top of the Tower, on a Tuesday afternoon in December. To be honest with you, I have some vertigo and was quite apprehensive to do this. My original plan was to go to the second level only, not all the way to the top. However, I decided to "go for it", and I'm glad I did. What an amazing view, all the way around. You can see everything. And it's very secure up there, with glass and steel railings - it's not wide open like I thought it would be. Admission depends on how high you go - there are three different levels, and the highest level is also the most expensive: the elevator ride to the top costs 11 euros for adults, 6 euros for kids 3-11. If you want to save some money and are in good shape, consider climbing. No, I don't mean climbing the outside of the Tower - you climb the stairs. It's cheaper, but you can only go to the second level. By the way, there are restaurants on the first and second levels. Enjoy the view! Leave a Comment

In the evening, take the #6 metro to Trocadero and walk to the "porch". You will get a bonus light show (no fireworks) if you arrive at the top of the hour. Eiffel Millenium Light Show For bigger, better shots than mine shown here, goto Anthony's Paris Photos and click on "Photo Gallery" on the left, open a bottle of wine, and enjoy. Thanks to Anthony Atkielski for inspiring Tour Eiffel shots he spent so much time taking and shares. Leave a Comment Directions: Shot from Parvis Trocadero (Metro Trocadero ligne 6) or you can shoot the other angle from Ecole Militaire / Champ du Mars.

Eiffel tower by clairegeordio The Eiffel Tower is 114 years old and 324m high. There are lifts that go to the floors and stairs go just up to the second floor. It is open every day of the year, usually from 9.30am-midnight. We paid for a ticket right to the top (10,40 euros), but we firstly stopped off on the second floor where the views were still amazing. Please look at my Paris page travelogue for views from up the Eiffel Tower. Leave a Comment

Eiffel Tower, from the Seine by rwlittle This was one of the many highlights of our visit. Being an engineerint type, I really was blown away by its sheer size. At night, they put on an impressive light show. If you're afraid of heights, don't take the stairs back down, you may get freaked out by all that open air below you. Leave a Comment Directions: It's in the 7th Arrondissement. You can't miss it!!
