Eiffel at night from the Jardin du Trocadero by MedioLatino I was quite excited to see The Eiffel Tower and it was worth to wait: I went up once during the evening and once during the day and made 100s of pictures...an amazing and unforgettable experience! Highly recommended! :) Price to the 3rd floor is 10,70 EUR. Don't bother with the price to the 1st or 2nd floor, if you are there you just have to go up to the top!! :) However, don't miss to visit these two "stops" either, they can provide a diferent view on the city and on the tower itself as well! by JulesH We stepped out of the Metro station at Volontaires where our hotel was located and the first thing we saw as we turned our heads to the right was the Eiffel Tower reaching high above the Paris skyline. You can see this spectacular monument peeking at you between buildings as you walk around the city, and at night it is spectacularly illuminated in gold, a sweeping searchlight encircles the crest throwing out a beacon which can be seen for miles. Every hour, on the hour hundreds of strobe lights are set sparkling like priceless gemstones. It is a truly breathtaking sight. Leave a Comment Directions: You can't miss it!!! We managed to get there from Volontaires simply by walking towards it. It was about 2 miles away.

Eifel tower by Helga67 With its 324m height, you can't miss the Eiffel Tower. It rises high above the buildings and you can see it wherever you are in Paris. The tower was originally built by Gustave Eiffel for the world exhibition of 1889. It was supposed to be a temporarily work of art. Until 1931, it was the highest building of the world. Go up to enjoy a spectacular view of Paris and surroundings. On a clear day, you can see for 72m. There are 3 levels. Level 1 and 2 can be reached by stairs or elevator. Here you can find a restaurant and post office. You need an elevator to reach the third level for the best view. On the third level, you can feel the tower move back and forth. It is said that it moves about 7 cm. Leave a Comment

...it's Paris (just without the Eiffel Tower)! Paris is not at all only about the Eiffel tower, though of course, what's the trip without a snap shot of you with the massive tower on the background? Have you meet or knew anyone who visited Paris (especially for first-time visitors) who have not had a shot with the Eiffel tower? After all it's the most famous monument in the world. Go up the tower during the daytime to see Paris fabulous view, and it is a very nice sight too during night time when it looks like a giant Christmas tree blinking fast. Or join the people basking in the sun around the fountain and pool(?) Phone: 33 1 44.11.23.45Directions: Take the Bir Hakeim metro. You can't miss it!!!

The Eiffel Tower of course is the most famous building in Paris. Itīs one of masterpieces of constructing-art of the 19th century, built by the French architect Gustave Eiffel (1832-1923). Because of the celebrations of the 100th anniversary of the French Revolution in 1889, the world exhibition was organised in Paris. Architects were invited to design an appropriate monument for this occasion, and Mr. Eiffel won with his idea. Eiffel founded his own company in 1866, being one of the first architects that used iron as main material for his constructions. He used it to make bridges, buildings and he even designed the frame for the Statue of Liberty that now stands in New York. When the Tower was built its height was 300 metres, which made it the highest building in the world. They first planned to break it down right after the World Exhibition, but because of its success itīs still there nowadays. Its has had millions of visitors since then, who climb the tower by stairs or by elevator. And because they also use it as television antenna nowadays, itīs height now is 320 metres. Itīs no longer the highest building in the world, but itīs certainly one of the most famous. Facts: 300 steel workers, and 2 years (1887-1889) to construct it. 15,000 iron pieces (excluding 2.5 million rivets). 40 tons of paint. 1671 steps to the top. Maximum sway at top caused by wind: 12 cm (4.75 inches). Maximum sway at top caused by metal dilation: 18 cm (7 inches). Total height in 1889: 300.51 meters (985 feet, 11 inches). Total height with television antenna: 320.755 meters (1052 feet, 4 inches). Height varies up to 15 cm depending on temperature. Size of base area: 10,281.96 square meters (2.54 acres). Weight of iron: 7.34 million kg (8092.2 tons). Total weight: 8.56 million kg (9441 tons). Dates of construction: January 26, 1887 to March 31, 1889. Cost of construction: 7.8 million francs ($1.5 million). Total number of visitors during 1889 Exposition: 1,968,287. Total number of visitors during 2002: 6,157,042. The peanuts look something like this by pigletsmom At the base of the Eifel tower there are vendors that sell burnt peanuts. They are peanuts coated with a crunchy toffee glaze. They are so good. Not to be missed. They are sold in small paper bags and cooked on the spot. What a treat! Leave a Comment Directions: You can't miss it!!!

Doesn't look that big to me. by lohki Yet another truly enjoyable experience. I had decided to mail postcards from the post office on the first level, and though I was delighted to watch the sunset from up there my timing was bad; the post office had already closed! On a lighter note, I DID get to meet Fred who was working in the gift shop that evening. He sold me the last two pre-postage international envelopes in the shop. Drinking Kir, and writing postcards at Altitude 95 after watching the sunset behind Trocadero was so much fun that I giggle at the thought of it. I read in a Toronto paper that they have built an ice skating rink there for the holidays. That may even top the rink at Rockefeller Center! Leave a Comment Directions: You can't miss it!!! I decided to walk through Parc Du Champ De Mars. Fun since you can measure the tower against buildings and lamp posts, as it looms ever larger with each step.

View from the other bank on Concorde square by BruceDunning, 3 more photos Called by Le Tour Eiffel it is a masterpiece by Mr Eiffel. Gustav started construction in 1889 for the commemoration of the 100th year of the French Revolution (first one on many)to present in the World's Fair held in Paris, where else. The steel is amazing well preserved and has not had much need of repair since. The intent was to dismantle the tower in a couple of years after completion, but it was decided is ws too costly, so it was left "as is". It does require a coat of paint about every 15-20 years. The structure is 1010 feet high and has 1665 steps to the top. There are 3 levels; the first being about 180 feet. There you can look around and get postage stamped cards from the Eiffel. The next level is around 770 feet, and the views are more clear at this level. The top is good on a clear day, but plan ahead if you can. It is so tall, the views can be hazy looking in a camera. It weighs 7300 tons. The cost to the top is just over 10 Euro, and 6 Euro to second level. Be sure to take the stairs back down from level two so you do not have to stand in line for many minutes for the elevator. Go early in the morning, first thing, or the crowds, in nearly any day will overwhelm you and the waits not worth the trip to the top.

If you intend to go to the Eiffel Tower, avoid the lines and avoid going there on the week-ends when they get worse, go during the week at 9h00 to be among the first when they open at 9H30, or go at night after 6 pm, as it remains open until 11pm or even until midnight in the summer. If you intend to go to the third floor, be aware that you will have to swap lifts on the second so expect another queue up there. The view from the second is already fantastic.
