Yuck! Sorry about the picture quality. This was before I got digital!
We didn't actually go inside the Moulin Rouge, we didn't have reservations and didn't quite meet the dress code. I was just happy to see the outside though.
Be careful...its located in a rather seedy part of town...

Well I didn't go to the Moulin Rouge or Pigalle but I took some photos of the outside. The shows are expensive and apparently from reviews I have read; not that great anymore. Besides I think it is sexist so I wouldn't pay money to support them anyways.

I heard a lot about this famous place. The ancient and well known Moulin Rouge. Expensive, fancy, sensual,... but is much more than that.
I haven' seen such a perfect show. People from 18 years old up to 100 having real fun.
Pay for the ticket, you won't be dissapointed. Is more than great.

On our way up to Montmartre, we passed The Moulin Rouge. Unfortunately the prices were a little too expensive to be able to see a show at the famous Moulin Rouge but there were panels telling you all about its history which was pretty interesting.

Well I didn't actually go in here, but it was good just to see it! I didn't realise that it was right in the middle of the red light district, with some rather in your face gear going on! I guess it is Europe after all! People that went said it was rather expensive but worth a look. I personally wasn't that into it so didn't go.

Unless you absolutely must go to say you went, stay away from this horrible tourist trap. I knew it would be bad, but I had no idea how bad. Although by the end of the night, with a bottle of champagne in us, woozily walking through fascinating Montmartre we had a great time- I have to warn everyone to stay away! The Moulin Rouge was terrible. The girls are beautiful of course, but even that is not enough to justify sitting through that nightmare. Aside from the topless ingénues there is nothing redeemable left. The music was retched. The tired and crusty lounge singer who came on stage to open had no sense of his ridiculousness and no sense of irony so he could not even camp up the show which would have been the saving grace of the whole spine tingling embarrassment. If you are hoping for a throwback (even if cheesy) reenactment of the cabarets belle epoch highpoint, or at least some reference to the last turn of the century, you are so wrong. The Moulin Rouge is stuck in one decade and one decade only- from about 1975 to 1985. A nightmare of synthesizer laden tunes, cheesy vocals, corny effects, lame ass attempts at humor, horrid lame sets which looked like a review of the worst of Broadway from 1980, I could go on. Even the highlight of the night, the Can Can was too short and lamely pimped out. Think the Laurence Welk show circa 1978 with some hot topless babes thrown in for safety. That's it. Maybe worth $10 for some laughs, but save your $100 a person and go to a real club. Or just enjoy the posters from it's heyday, and watch either movie named after the old place.
This place was a disappointment even for someone who expected to be disappointed. It seems like the owners need to be tried by a jury of their peers and banished and someone needs to call in the players from Vegas to put on a real cabaret... This place now is a shame and an embarrassment to cabarets everywhere. It was not even good in a campy or humorous way. Just sad. Thank god for the drinks!

The world's famous cabaret...... stunning & extravagant cancan shows! A must-see....at least once in your life. The setting of Ewan McG & Nicole K.'s blockbuster movie of the same title....though looks more fabulous in the movie, I guess it has sumthin' to do with Satine's (NK) charm... no, I guess it's the spectacular set of the movie.
It has been a venue of some of the world's great artists like Liza M., Frank S., Elton J. among others, and the most gorgeous dancers in fabulous costumes and, of course, the lesser or minimum - to bare costumes... not really.

If you're a movie buff like me, then going to see the Moulin Rouge is a must because I had to see what the Moulin Rouge really looked like. It was a bit of a disappointment, I have to admit... the windmill looked nothing like the movie and there was no glittering elephant. Nevertheless, it's good to know that it actually exists, but I only went to snap a picture of it from the front and then left. After all, it's a red light district and I wouldn't want to hang around there at night.....

Organised through the Pariserve web site. It was great value and the show was fabulous. Didn't finish until after 1pm so we were glad to be delivered back to our hotel by bus - we got back to our hotel at 2:30.
If it looks like rain take an umbrella, as you have to line up outside the Moulin Rouge until the dinner guests have left and there is no cover.

After seeing the movie Moulin Rouge I had to see place for myself. It is nice but it is a bit overrated. It is located in Pigalle where you can find a number of sex shops, bars and nightclubs. There was a long line to get in for the show and dinner. It is great if you to do the tourist thing but avoid it if you want to hangout with Parisians.
