Beauvais Airport, Paris
I always have searched for cheaper flights to Paris. And I found that Latvias' AirBaltic is not so cheap as they say, even on their cherry (very cheep) offers. The only good thing is that they fly to Charles de Gaulle airport.
Last year I found very good prices at Ryanair from Vilnius. It's definitely cheaper to go to Vilnius from Riga and then by Ryanair to Paris/Beauvais airport. This year I choose Wizzair to Beauvais and Ryanair back to Vilnius.
Now (2014) Wizzair have direct flights from Riga to Beauvais. What I was surprised you need to pay at Wizzair even for your cabin baggage. And you have better price offers if you register as a member.
Of course, they are cheap airlines, so no free meal offers and so on.
Airport Beauvais is low cats airport for Paris. It is host for rayanair, wizzair and blueair low cast airways companies. It is small regional airport 85 km north of Paris. For 13 eur (one way) you can come in Paris from this airport. The ride will take about 70 minutes.
IMPORTANT: If you're flying into Beauvais Airport, you will probably end up taking the shuttle bus service to Paris (now €13 one-way). On your return, it is recommended that you arrive at the Porte Maillot bus park 3 hours 15 mins before the departure time of your flight from Beauvais.
If you need to buy a ticket at Porte Maillot, for the bus journey back to Beauvais, I would recommend that you get there at least 3hours and 30 minutes before. There is a new ticket office at Porte Maillot (good map at http://www.hotelsreviewed.com/paris-porte-maillot-bus-metro.html). It is no longer possible to buy your ticket on the bus. So you have to queue up. If you're running late - you still have to queue up (and miss the bus, if you can't convince others in the queue to let you ahead).
If you miss the bus, a taxi will cost about €120!!!
If you arrive at Paris Beauvais Airport and need to get into the city you can catch a bus. The tickets cost 13 euro. If you look up the Beauvais airport you can book and pay for your tickets online. It will save you lining up.
Beauvais Airport is located north of Paris....really north. About 70 kilometers or so. The airport itself is pretty cool historically, having been used in World War II. Not much has changed since then. The airport is used by discount airlines like Ryanair, Wizz, etc.
There is a charter bus you can take into Paris. It costs 13 euro's and leaves 40 minutes or so after a plane lands.
The bus will take anywhere between 45 mins to 3 hours (depending on traffic) to get into Paris, and drops you off in a parking lot outside the Porte de Maillot From there, it is a short walk to the Metro at Avenue de Neuilly or Neuilly-Porte de Maillot Palais des Congres.
Twice I have flown to Paris Beauvais with Ryanair and twice my return flight has been cancelled.
Incidentally, it was the same flight on the same day, one year apart (I had been visiting the Tour de France finale in Paris)
Very dodgy flight. The flight is due to take off at 10:45pm. However, the airport has a 11:00pm noise curfew so if your flight is more than 15 minutes late, you get cancelled.
I took the Ryanair Bus to Beauvais in March - This service is rather cheap (13 Euros) but the transfer is rather long (If you are coming from South Paris especially) and the bus itself quite old... You can buy a ticket directly in the bus on departure. This service is efficient but I would recommend private shuttle to people with children and senior citizens or groups (4 people) as door to door service is provided. (I took a the beauvais private shuttle to go back to Paris).
