I took a train to Versailles (most tourists does). But I took a bus back. The bus is service number 72 (red) that wonderfully stop right in front of the Chateau de Versailles. Save a bit of walking. The bus depart from Porte de Saint Cloude and a ticket for 5 zones will be valid. Porte De Saint Cloude is on metro line 9. The bus station is right above the metro. Leave a Comment Theme: Bus |
Because we didnt spend any money visiting shops or museums we bought 3 day passes for the open topped bus, you can get on and off at any of the stops, and there are headphone guides in various languages telling you where you are and giving excellent information not much fun if it`s raining though ! its more expensive than a metro pass, but you see many wonderful things, for example, we were able to see the statue of The Thinker in the garden of the Musee Rodin from the top of the bus Leave a Comment Theme: Bus |
We went to Paris with a bus tour just for a weekend. It was at least a cheap connection. I would recommend to do this but later on doing the sightseeing on your own...just for a first impression it?s ok, but not more. Paris has got a Metro, quite old but with good connections. To drive by car in Paris must be a little adventure if you are not acostumbrated in the french way of drive...;-) still not that extreme as in Italy but you should always expect that others don?t drive like you learned in your driving lessons ,-) Leave a Comment Theme: Bus |
You cant miss them, they're everywhere on the main tourist routes between Arch de Triomphe and The Opera House. It costs 22 euros per adult, and 11 euros for chlidren, the tickets are valid for 2 days and you can get on/off as many times as you like. We found them helpful as the weather had its sunny spells and you can see more from being slightly higher. Leave a Comment Theme: Bus |
Busses, hm...what can i say about it, I think in PAris Metro would be the most convinient transport to use.But buses if you choos bus, it is also nice, cause yu can see muc more of Paris from the windows, but the minus in buses, is that u can't change the rout with the same ticket as you can do in Metro. If you would like to explore Paris by bus, this is a great option!! It will align/pick you up at a designated stop located at most of the place of interest. It save you the hassle of looking up the place by yourself :) You don't have to book in advance or buy from the internet, you can purchase the ticket from the bus driver! :) Leave a Comment |
The best way to view Paris is by foot, bus or boat. There are four bus tours and we did three of them. The bus was bright yellow in colour so easy to spot when looking for one :) A little chilly, it was alot of fun and very informative. We hopped on and off many times, and saw all the 'must see' sites, as well as 'backstreet' ones. Commentary by headphone at each seat provide insight and helpful visitation tips (when the head-sets were working!). One nice thing is that these tickets last for TWO days, unilke London's which lasts for only one day. Much better value for money! :) Leave a Comment |
If you misses the last metro train, there is other options other than taxi. There are night buses running at the major streets in Paris. They all started with letter 'N'. They normally run between 12:30 a.m. to 5:30 a.m. when the metro stops running. It is always a good idea to check the schedule and where is the cloest Night bus stop to your hotel before your night out. Their schedule is either every half an hour or sometimes even an hour apart. |
Paris has to have one of the world's best public transport systems! I was blown away with how easy it was to get around. Whoever designed this system deserves to be made a saint! Everything is so well signposted and logical that you would have to be asleep (like I was when I got on the wrong train to Versailles) to make a mistake. The same tickets can be used on the buses, trains, and metros. You can buy a carnet of ten at any transport station. The bus network was particularly impressive because every bus stop has a name. That way you always know where you're going and by looking at the helpful map in every bus, you know when your stop is coming up. I could go on for ever - it really makes your trip to Paris easy and enjoyable. If only Auckland could get its act together like that! Leave a Comment Theme: Train |
