Look out for this sign beside Sheraton in CDG by bpacker Here's another myth to debunk. Travelling on the train from the the airport to Paris is not a horror story but a cheap and quick option for any traveller. Here's why : 1) It cost only €7.60 for adults (children €5.30) to travel from the airport to Paris 2) The journey takes only 35 min flat! I timed it. 3) It's not confusing as you think. Hell, if an asian gal whose french suck big time can do it so can you. To catch this suburban train ( called RER ) , just go to the Roissy train station in Terminal 2. It's directly under the Sheraton Paris Airport Hôtel Charles de Gaulle. If you're bloody unlucky to land in the dirty and old Terminal 1 , take the free shuttle bus called the Navette (every 10min) to T2. From T2, the RER "B" will transport you to central Paris. To transfer to the intercity train (called the Métro) get off at Gare du Nord, Châtelet-Les-Halles, or St-Michel, all of which are RER and métro train stops. Time : The RER runs every 15 min, from 5am-12:30am Schedule : Click on the website for the timetables Leave a Comment

Check the Signboard First! by bpacker Always, always check the signboard before boarding the RER "B" train (suburban train) from Paris to CDG airport! Unknownst to me at that time, I took the wrong train, alone, at night and landed in some God-forsaken place in Roissy! To avoid the mistake, look carefully at the signboard on the platform where you board the train. If the sign for CDG airports lights up, it's all fine... Other important things to take note of: The RER train runs every 15min and the journey takes 30-35min. 5am-12:30am; €7.60, children €5.30.) Leave a Comment Theme: Train

In the RER by GUYON From Orly airport : take Orlyval, an automatic metro which joins in 7 min Antony. There are frequents departures. At Antony, take the RER line B direction Paris. The terminus put on the signs are : Aeroport Charles de Gaulle or Mitry Claye. Stop at Chatelet 20 min later. You are in the center of Paris. You can stop before if your hotel is on the Left Bank (example : stop at St Michel if your hotel is in the Quartier Latin). At Chatelet, you can take the RER line A which crosses Paris East - West. For one direction, you only must cross the plateform to access to the line A. Price : 10.35 euros including Orlyval Orlyval only (if you have a pass or a carte orange for zone 3) : 7 Euros. Be aware : - to the pickpockets - Chatelet is always a busy station and it is a crossroad of the main lines of Paris. So look at the signs. Leave a Comment Theme: Train

I want to highly recommend Bee-Shuttle service for getting from CDG airport to anywhere in the city of Paris. We reserved the service via the internet and the driver was there waiting when we landed. For the return trip, again the driver was exactly on time. For 14 euro each, this was much cheaper for 2 of us than a taxi and was comforting to know we had a fixed rate and a driver who knew where to go! Leave a Comment

The shuttles are definitely the best and the cheapest means of transportation for arriving to Paris from Beauvais-Tille Airport. The airport is located at aprox. 90 km from Paris and it takes around 1h and 15min. The departure/arrival of the shuttles to/from Beauvais Airport is located at the bus park on Boulevard Pershing, near the hotel Concorde Lafayette. The metro station is Porte Maillot, line 1. From Beauvais the shuttles are leaving 20min after each flight arrival, while from Paris the shuttles are leaving 3h before each flight departure. The ticket costs EUR 13- one way and can be bought from the airport (on the right side of the exit), from the driver or on-line using the following link (available only for several countries): www.aeroportbeauvais.com/index.php?lang=eng Theme: Bus

Moving walkway at the airport - going to Paris by ChicBaby If you really want to save a lot of money you can always take the RER into Paris. Our RER tickets were only $7.85E pp, one-way. Think about that versus a $40 E taxi ride with traffic? Here's how to do it: 1. When you get off the plane, go to the first restroom you'll see. A veteran traveler to CDG that helped me with the RER planning said to eat an energy bar. Yes, you will need it after such a long flight and you will be doing quite a lot! After dealing with luggage and customs, go to the elevator and go down to level ("niveau") 3, departures. The on-airport shuttle("navette") stop is near door ("porte") 22. Board a #2 (green route) shuttle bus and get off at the only stop, which is the CDG1 RER station. The shuttle is free and frequent. The buses we encountered on our arrival and return had stairs, so be prepared to lift up your stroller and luggage. 2. Go to the ticket counter inside the station - they accept credit cards. 3. If you have a stroller, go to the glass booth near to the turnstyles. Tell them you need to to use the gate because you have a stroller. They will tell you to Insert your ticket into the turnstyle, retrieve it, and then proceed to a gate to the right that they will have to unlock. Don't forget to keep your ticket!4. Go down to the appropriate platform. It will be marked. There were escalators. When I asked the gentleman that opened the gate about an elevator, he said escaltors. 5. When the train comes you should get in last as people will move to make room for you. They will be more mobile than you. You can sit on pull down seats near any doorway or if you can figure out where the end of the car is, there is lots of standing room there for you. 6. Enjoy the ride and when you get off look for the exit signs "Sortie" and "Ascenseur" (elevator). The elevator was out of service at Denfert Rochereau the morning we arrived. We were lucky it was only about a flight and a half up to the exit level!Read more about my packing tips to understand how we were able to carry everything. Leave a Comment Theme: Train

The ticket for the shuttlebus by Rojo72 If you fly with Ryanair to Paris you will land at Beauvais, a city a little more than an hour's drive away. The easiest way to get to and from the Airport is to use the shuttlebus service, which leaves the airport 20 minutes after landing (They say, but there were plenty of buses there) and goes to Porte Maillot in Paris, where there's a Metrostation to take you to wherever you're going. The bus leaves Porte Maillot 3 hours prior to departure when you leave Paris, but you should be at Porte Maillot at least 3 hours and 15 minutes prior to your flight's departure time. The tickets for the bus are 10 Euros single way, but you can buy a return ticket at the box office just to the right of the exit of the airport terminal when you arrive at Beauvais. That way you don't have to hassle with money in the morning when you're going back. (I for instance, had to be at Porte Maillot at 6.40 AM...) On the ticket you also get a discount at Corcoran's Irish pub if you show them your ticket. Corocoran's is near Moulin Rouge, metro Pigalle. Leave a Comment Theme: Bus

This time in Paris, I had to opt for a shuttle service since my girlfriend couldn't pack light !! (I'm still not happy about it) so I looked around and found this company named Parishuttle !! I asked around here on VT and several people said they had used it and it was secure and safe and reliable. So I went ahead and booked there service via the internet......the cost was 18 Euro per person each way.......when arriving in Paris, you call a toll free number, they direct you where to go in PERFECT ENGLISH !!!!! and we must have waited no more than 5 minutes before the shuttle showed up. On the way back from out hotel the same thing....we booked a 9:30 pick up and just as the clock turned 9:30 the van was pulling up to our hotel !!!!! I HIGHLY RECOMMED this service if you can't pack light and take the train or the Air France bus !!!! Update: May 2008 Price is now 23 Euro's per person one way !!!! Leave a Comment

RER train, Paris by sourbugger The regional Metro (RER) has two stops at the main Charles De Gaulle airport, where the vast majority of long-distance flights arrive. A ticket will set you back 7 Euro 75, which makes it a bargain. The travel pass or 'Paris Visite' although promoted as a pass for tourists will not provide good value unless * you are only spending one night in the city and flying out again, * or your hotel (unlikely) is in the outer suburbs * You are planning to visit places around region such as Disneyland Paris or the Palace of Versailles. It is therefore (in most cases) better to travel in on one ticket and then buy a normal day pass for Paris' central area for your sightseeing adventures. Leave a Comment Theme: Subway/Metro

We bought a round-trip ticket with Les Cars Air France to get from Charles de Gaulle airport to our hotel located near the Montparnasse train station because we didn't feel like lugging our suitcases around in crowded metro wagons. Line 4 goes directly to the Montparnasse train station, tickets cost 22 Euros round-trip (valid for one year), and the buses run from 7:00 am to 9:00 pm. We bought our ticket at Terminal 2F. It was a comfortable and carefree ride, but if I were to do it again I'd travel by RER and metro. It's cheaper, faster (especially if you're traveling during rush hour), and people really don't seem to mind your big suitcase after all! Leave a Comment
