If you are in Paris and travel to the main touristic attractions, you will then remain within the zone 1 and 2 limit of Paris metro. If you want a pass for just one day buy the pass called Mobilis, it is cheaper than the one-day-Paris Visite pass. If you are in Paris for longer, for a three-day or a five-day pass you only have the choice of Paris-Visite but for a week you can have like a true parisian a Carte Orange, ask for a card at the counter, stick a passport-sized picture of yourself and buy the one-week (from monday to sunday) or one month pass .Also a good tip so you don't stand out as tourists, is to write down the directions of the metro lines you want, then you don't have to open your large metro map in the metro, more practical and you will be less easily spotted as tourists by pickpockets Leave a Comment

Anvers. by kcrismier That's really all you have to figure out, and chances are the Paris metro system can take you there. Without a doubt, surely THE best metro in the world. Be sure to buy a carnet (Kar NAY) when you first arrive from a ticket window in the metro system. It will provide you with 10 tickets to use at a discounted price A carnet is currently slightly over 10euros, whereas buying tickets (billetes said "bee YAY") separately will cost you about 15euro. Insert one ticket into the turnstile machine, walk through, then make sure to grab your ticket or you may be fined and you might not be able to transfer to some RER stations I think. Also, check your ticket after, and if you don't see any sign of a purple mark, you may be able to use it again!! I had a couple of tickets that I ended up using again because they weren't marked, so the turnstile couldn't read them as "used". Make sure to also grab a map, although beware that several maps are available, and some seemed easier to read than others. We lost the original small easy-to-read map we had, and the large one that replaced it seemed a lot more confusing. In the city, you can also use the RER lines to get where you want to go, with less stops. Within the city, you can use your metro tickets for the RERs. When looking at a map, the RER only stops at the stops that have dots. Leave a Comment

Carte Orange - Front & reverse by miso80 If you're staying in Paris for a week or more...even if you are staying there for less than a week but will be using a lot of the metro..then the Carte Orange will be great for you. You get to choose the time you want it for, a week or a month, and the zones (of Paris) that you would need it for. Anyone can purchase this ticket from Paris. However, you must have a passport sized photo to attach to the pass. The weekly pass is only valid from Monday to Sunday...So, if you arrive on a Wednesday, you'd want to weigh your options (it will only be valid up to Sunday of that week). The Carte Orange pass will provide you with unlimited rides on the RATP. In 2004, the price of a weekly zone (1-2 ) Carte Orange was for 14.5 euros. Leave a Comment

Paris Metro by hoofhearted The metro is a very simple subway system to grasp. A good map purchased in advance at any chain bookstore will show the routes and each arrondissment (neighborhood). This system is extremely reliable, but check the ending times if you will be out late at night!

Paris' Metro is fantastic....a little overwhelming at first glance of a route map but once you figure out how it all connects, a saviour to your budget while away!! Many like the efficiency of taxis but seem to forget how much taxying around the city can cost you....the Metro is your alternative. You can take it to every major tourist attraction in the city and on average the fare will run you a couple of euros. Leave a Comment

this is my Carte Orange, with the map they provide by goy if you are visiting Paris for more than 3 days, get a Carte Orange. :) you can buy it at every metro station, you just need to have a picture of yourself. the card itself is free, and you can buy weekly and monthly travel passes once you have it, wich is way cheaper, and more convenient than having to buy and handle a bunch of tickets. if you don't get a little map with the pass (as on the pic), ask for it, it's the best way to avoid getting lost... :) weekly passes (hebdo) are good from monday 00h to sunday 24h, monthly passes (mensuel) are from the 1st day till the last day of the month. for the prices check out the website.
