Not getting lost!
  • Tip Rating:
  • If you're coming to Provins by train, read below! I arrived without a map and felt so lost. There was no map at the station and the people did not understand me.

From the station, cross the street and walk up Rue H Moreau. At the end of it, turn left and go up Rue du Four des Raines. After walking a bit, turn left onto Rue des Marais. Turn on the 3rd right to Rue Victor Garnier. At the end of it, you will see Place du General Leclerc.

Exit the plaza on your left by Rue du Val. This will lead you onto the main road of the town.

    Paris to Provins
  • Tip Rating:
  • The second way to come to Provins is by car : A4-Paris-Metz-Nancy; N4; N19.
The first point in your visit is good to be the Tourist Informations Center in the parking of Saint-Jean Gate open daily from 9-17.30. There is a nice lady who will give you a map with the points of interest and a lot of tips.

    Cars allowed
However cars are admitted inside the ramparts, the Medieval town was not at all busy. There are several gates in the ramparts. The main gate is getting refurbished actually and closed for cars.

    Paris suburban lines
Provins is an easy and enjoyable day trip from Paris via Gare de L'est. The journey takes about an hour and 20 minutes. In October of 2007 we paid just under E 20 each for a round trip. There are multiple train times so scheduling is easy. Just remember in Provins to check return times. You wouldn't want to miss the last train back. Or would you?
