Slow mo train, Versailles by bpacker Since the Versailles is a huge place, you can't possibly cover the entire Chateau and the Gardens by foot unless you're a superhero. Well, mortals like us have 2 choices . The first option is to pay €5 to sit on a slow mo train with grannies and really young kids to see the Chateau, the Grand Canal and the Trianon Gardens. Read on to see the 2nd option if you think this option is a pain in the ***. Leave a Comment Theme: Train

by mvtouring The little train leaves from the back of the palace and it works like a hop-on, hop-off train. It is an easy way to get around the estate for those who are not so mobile or fit. Leave a Comment Theme: Train

My car (red one) on the huge parking lot. by Jerelis Versailles is several kilometers southwest of the city of Paris. To get there, you have several options. First of all a train reaches Versailles in 30 to 40 minutes. Three rail lines will get you to Versailles from Paris. Besides that you can take the number 171 bus from Paris. The third option is of course by car. I always like the excitement of driving a car in a different (huge) city. I stayed in Paris for the night and left for Versailles in the early morning just after breakfast. I took the Motorway A13 (direction Rouen) and saw the exit Versailles-Château almost immediately after leaving the city centre, and took it to get to Versailles. After that it is just a matter of following the sings. Like I said … I went by car from Paris to Versailles and had no troubles in getting there. The fine thing was that just outside the Palace there is a huge parking lot (Place d'Armes) where I could park my car on a payed parking spot. From that point on it was only a short walk to the Palace. I stayed for 12 hours and was charged €12.-, which is the price for an entire day. Not too bad to be honest! by Pieter11 If you want to go to Versailles from the city centre of Paris, don´t do difficult by taking the car, the train or what so ever. Take the RER, the regional metro. With this train you´ll reach Versailles in 40 minutes from the centre of Paris. Take the line C5: pay attention to the end destination. This has to be Versailles - Rive Gauche. We boarded at this RER stop to get to Versailles. by Aprl24 Taking the RER out of Paris to Versailles is fairly simple. You want to take the "C" line to Versailles-Rive Gauche. It's the end of the line, so it's not hard to get lost. Just make sure you get on the train scheduled for Versailles-Rive Gauche, as there is also a different train on the "C" line stopping at Versailles-Chantier. The RER train station is only about 5-10 minutes away from the palace. Also - the RER is different from the metro. It's a little bit more difficult to navigate, but don't be afraid to ask a ticket agent for help. Even if they barely speak english or your language, they will be able to point you in the right direction. Theme: Subway/Metro
