I took the RER C from Musee d'Orsay. It stops very close to the Chateau.

A useful way to get round the large area of gardens is to hire one of these.

Take the RER train to Versailles-Rive Gauche (the C train from Paris), and a short walk brings you to the château, it's only 10 miles west of Paris.

Our Eurail Ticket...after a beating...

We caught a regional RER train out to Versailles. It took around 30 miniutes to get there.

Our Eurail ticket was still allowed to be used on the RER trains so the trip was 'free' for us.

Walk these gardens

The best way to explore the gardens at Versailles is on foot. There is a small park-train which shuttles people around to the various sights, but it's more enoyable to explore by walking.
