Take the RER train to Versailles-Rive Gauche (the C train from Paris), and a short walk brings you to the château, it's only 10 miles west of Paris.

We caught a regional RER train out to Versailles. It took around 30 miniutes to get there.
Our Eurail ticket was still allowed to be used on the RER trains so the trip was 'free' for us.
