Cave Coop Cellier de Pont Romain

Fabulous Blanquette. We once brought home about 30 bottles for a friends wedding. Far nicer than champagne. When we first went to the Cave (about 1987) the owner was a extremely handsome strong faced chap who sat in a large wine barrel that had been turned into a seat. After he died the family updated the Cave and it is now more of shop than the interesting place where we used to stand amongst the barrels watching him do his accounts and the sons and daughters putting the grapes into the vats. But the blanguette is still good. The red is not a good as Marc Majorals (just across the main road) but their rose is excellent and you can have your 5 litre or 10 litre cubee/sac filled with no problem. But the pick of their wines is the Blanquette, slightly more flowery than a champagne.
