We flew to Toulouse and picked up a rental car there. An area of approximately 10 miles all around the Airport appears to be undergoing new road construction or repair so driving to and from the airport was quite a hassle.
Our planned stop-over in the mountains south of Carcassonne ( and our visit to that city) were spoiled by bad weather and once we arrived in Collioure we did not want to leave!
There are good local train and bus services so next time we will take Eurostar and TNG to Perpignan and train or taxi to Collioure. In the summer months parking could be a very big and expensive problem. After two nights in an hotel we spent 10 days in a delightful restored cottaged in one of the traffic-free streets. Nowhere is far away in the village !
