Some landscapes are filled with trees and woods where on others you can not find a single tree. There are hills covered with rocks of all sizes, almost something mystiques, as you would grab some of them and put them in circles? as some of us did thousand of years a go ? naughty boys ;-)
No really, there are some areas covered will lots of menhirs which you can find by following the road marks. I didn?t drove YET to one of them, but according some maps this seems the place to be to see one.

As this place is surrounded by a rough nature, I would say mountains but they are steep slopes created by the stream it self, the best way to see it is via a boat. There are a lot of adventure companies who are selling these Kayaks. The best way to find them is to get information in the tourist office.

This is not a restaurent in Florac but one in Mende, that is near Florac. But as I do not have more to say that it is a lovely small village and nice shoping place, you can eat some really nice tappas
Favorite Dish: Go for the Tappas Menu. You can choose from a huge list!!

We where looking for some tappas bar, which we did not found so we choose this one of its nice terrace.
Favorite Dish: It is a Snack-bar so no real big choice of food, only some small dishes. I remember we did not jumped in the air of the quality but it was not that bad after all.

As this area is marked with hills and steep cloves created by the rivers, the roads must follow the path of streams and cliffs. These are very slithering and you have to mind the road to avoid accidents. If you are driving a mobile home, make sure to check your mirrors, it may happen that there will be a big queue behind you unable to overtake you! There are many spots foreseen where you can stand a side and let people pass. Some roads are really steep which are difficult for heavy vehicles.

If you need something when you are in that region, you will find it in Florac. You can find a supermarket that provide you of any needs, from camping materials to frozen food. In centre of town you find more specialized shops: clothes, shoes, ? restaurants and bars.
But for any VT-er the important shop is ? the Internet-caf?!!

During Summer or dry season, there is a lot of rangers and police checks to prevent and spot any trace of fire. As this is the south of Europe, no rain and high temperatures makes these dry woods ticking time bombs. There is no way you can make any campfire or barbeque, even on campings, only to prevent the worse thing that could happen. Please pay attention on these warnings and do not let these tragically events happen!
