Montpellier - Gardens by salinhopt This Medieval archaeological garden is set around the remains of the 13th century Saint Esprit church which was a meeting point for pilgrims and of the 14th century Pila Saint Gely gate, both of which were uncovered during excavation work for the new tram lines. In itsmore recent past, the site was occupied by a potters' workshop. The kilns are reflected in the design of the tram stop and some artifacts are on display in the lift shaft leading to the Esplanade. Leave a Comment

Montpellier - Place de la comedie by salinhopt This huge square (18th Century) is the heart if the city. Sometimes known as l'ouf, owing to its egg shapped central roundabout around which traffic once circulated until it was pedestrianised, it is the most lively part of town. In its centre is the ornately sculpted Fontaine des Trois-Graces, which is the work of Etienne d'Antoine. At one end is the Comedie is the theatre and facing it are two impressive buildings, the Credit du Nord and the Grand Hotel du Midi. Leave a Comment Directions: Finding the Place from the train station is simple enough : walk out of the train station and take rue Maguelone which leads to Place de la Comedie.

by sandravdp Go and see the aquaduct of Montpellier. Romans invented this watertransportsystem. It brought water in all houses. The Romans also invented the sewersystems, viaducts (they are a kind of bridges with roads on it, they used to look like aquaducts a bit)and heatingsystems (tiles with hot water running under it).
