just near the hotel de marie, round the corner from the Au Bureau and the irish pub, is a tapas bar in the form of caves. it is a bit small, but if you go with the right crowd its a great night out. cloakroom facilities and free entry. two bars and lots of nooks and crannies.
amusez-vous bien!!

Address: near hotel de marie
i lived here for 4 months, and even at the height of the tourist season the nightlife was pretty grim. we mainly went to the Maison Carree (there are signs everywhere) where there are a few good cafes, which are outside in the summer. our faveourite was cafe carre, but towards september everything seemed to shut down. night clubs are few. Lulu is a gay club, but has a straight following, we went a few times but i stopped going when i saw someone 'powdering his nose' in the toilets. we found a great club one night but never saw it open again down past the town hall - a spanish bar which we called 'les grottes' (the caves) - a series of cave rooms, great music. apart from that there was not much, but cafe carre closed at 3 sometimes so that was good enough for us.
other bars include le bureau and cafe de paris.
Dress Code: no one cares, probably because there is no one there

If you are planning a visit to Nîmes, you have to visit an Opera at the antique Arena of the city. Check www.nimes.fr to find out when the Opera´s are performed. It doesn´t matter weither you like opera´s or not, the whole atmosphere alone is worth a visit!

When I was there on Thursday there was a night market with nice stalls of handicrafts, collectors, local products, music and animation on the streets.
And why not after a nice dinner in a local nearby the waiter of which was sooo nice that I asked him to take a pic with me. Also the service was really friendly and a free winy aperitif was served while waiting for the ordered dishes.
Sorry, I don't remember the name, this restaurant is just next to the amphitheatre but it's not the only one there...

Not really a place with a lot of nightlife. I was amazed how empty the streets were from 10pm onwards. There might be places to go, but you better plan your night out beforehand.
