Fontfroide monastery is embedded at the foot of the Corbières mountains at the end of an old path following the ancient route of the via domitia to Spain.
One of the richest monasteries of France. A long and difficult history (wars and intriges) but a beautiful place to visit...
In the monastery shop and in the book shop a wide range of books, postcards and products from the monastery (honey, herbs, potpourris) are on offer.
In the former cellars of the monastery, you can taste the Corbières Blanc produced at Fontfroide as well as the Corbières Rouge and the Rosé of St. Julien de Séptieme from the vineyards of the oldest Fontfroide grange which is situated immediately next to the starting point of route D 613.
The outbuildings also house the restaurant. It is open from Easter until All Saints day at the same times as the monastery.

La Franqui, nearby Treilles and Leucate, is knows for its large sand beaches. Ideal for surfers, kaite-surfing,... beacause of the strong winds.

It's a castle still in renovation. It gives a rather limited view on its history, and the history of the town. Go there for the view over the bay and the restaurant...
Sometimes the owner is working while you visit the place.
