Here we have a typical Café / Bar in the French style where you meet friends for a coffee, a beer or a wine and chat for hours. In the warmer months, the places outside on the little Jeanne d'Arc Square are quite popular. The café itself is not really big, so that it might get crowded inside, especially in the evening. The name, as you may have guessed, comes from the square and is an archaic form of the famous saint/commander/peasant girl's name.
I was there with a friend and he told me that there are often bands playing here in the evening as well. Unfortunately, I did not enjoy this atmosphere as we had to return to Germany on that evening. Still, it is an enjoyable place with friendly staff and a good touch of French savoir-vivre.

In dead end, right in the middle of Metz’s pedestrian zone, you will find “La Galettière”. We wouldn’t have found this place, if it wouldn’t have been for a sign on the main street. Attracted by their then-current offer (one galette, one crêpe, one coffee) for 10 EUR, we went into the restaurant. Except for a lady who came in for a coffee and the waiter, we were the only people in there. The decoration was a little too much plastic for my taste. The food was excellent and the choice of galettes (non-sweet crêpes) and crêpes was quite good. The waiter was a nice chap, I had the chance to make some jokes with him about the lack of eating culture in Germany with my bad French.
The fact that the restaurant was empty did not make a good impression of it. Maybe the cause for it is really the location. Few people take attention of this side street in the pedestrian zone. Nevertheless, I was satisfied with the crepes and the offer was really good.
Favorite Dish: The Galette Alsacienne was really good. Even as the waiter considered it as a fauxpas when I ordered white wine with it....

If I see a sign for Leffe I can not pass it up. I usually go with my favorite the Leffe Brune. They also have Leffe Triple and the Radiuese. Of course there are other beers offered such as Stella Artois, Heineken, Guinness, Kronenbourg and unfortunantly Bud! The interior of the restuarant is very plain and boring, but the great cold Leffe more than makes up for it.

This is a lovely cafe at the end of the St. Martin bridge, and also a restaurant. there is a little river "cove" with boats inside, and the atmosphere is very cozy and private. You can't mis it, just follow the street after St. Martin brige, and the entrance is on the side, maybe 10-20m from the bridge.

I don't know why, ut some people badly need McDonald's, and prefer it even to the local food, so this tip is for those. For me, McDonald's only useful for the emergency toilette situation, as you can go in freely without being obliged to purchase anything. That's another useful point of this tip. When you're walking around the town all day, eventually you'll need to go, so there...
It's also situated in the very heart of the town, near Cathedral, and in the same street like Luembourg bar, but unfortunately I can't remember the name...

This is a bar in the center, near the Cathedral and Place d'Armes. It is funny because in Metz you will find lots of things named after Luxembourg, since there are a lot of people from Luxembourg visiting (it takes only 45' by train from Lux.-city to Metz!), and vice versa, there are lots of things named after Metz in Luxembourg! it's like they're giving each other a favour...

There are various restaurants in Metz ranging from French to Greek. I ate at Flunch near city center. It was self-service. Menu selection was rich.
Favorite Dish: Steak and French fries. Of course a dinner without wine is not possible for me in France. It is cheap and good.

We spotted an American styled restaurant called Boston's. They offered everything from hot wings to pina colada's. We enjoyed a meal elsewhere that day, but I look forward to eating at Boston's next time. :)

The menu is full of healthy dishes. If you want to be away from oil-rich food, please visit this brasserie. Its a very informal atmosphere and service is good!
Favorite Dish: Salad and cheese dishes
