Domremy: this idyllically-located spot is one of the most famous sites in Lorraine, for it was here that Joan of Arc, later St. Joan, was born in 1412. Many sights commemorate the life and influence of this French heroine.
One of the highlights of a visit is the house where Joan of Arc was born, which gives an authentic impression of a 15th-century farmer’s residence.
Joan’s brief life and the historical situation of the time are accurately depicted in the tiny museum.
The neighbouring church contains the 12th-century font at which she was baptised.
The Bois Chenu was where the 13-year-old Joan heard the voices that informed her of her political mission.
The neo-Gothic Basilique nationale du Bois-Chenu, built between 1891 and 1926, is now a much-visited place of pilgrimage.

La mosaïque florale est l'art d'utiliser les végétaux pour composer des motifs précis. Son origine vient très probablement des parterres de broderie végétale des jardins de la Renaissance.
Cette mosaïque de l'an 2000 présente quelques avancées marquantes du siècle qui s'achève : la conquête de l'espace, l'électricité, le téléphone, l'aviation, l'environnement, l'atome, la mécanique et l'automobile. Sa composition a nécessité plus de 4000 plantes.
L'entretien, le nettoyage et la taille des plantes, ont lieu tous les 10 jours afin de maintenir la qualité visuelle des motifs.

The flower mosaic is the art to utilise the vegetation in order to compose precise motifs / pictures. It probably has its origin in the flower beds of the plant-embroidery of the botanical gardens of the Renaissance.
This mosaic of the year 2000 presents some striking advances of this century which is about to end: the conquest of space, electricity, the telephone, aviation, the environment, the atom, mechanics and the automobile. More than 4000 plants were needed for its composition.
The preservation, the cleaning and the 'styling' of the plants takes place every 10th day in order to maintain the visual quality of the motif / picture.
every year, in beginn of july, there is a big flight in in epinal mirecourt. with a lot of self build aircrafts, different flight shows, and a big spare part market, it is a great meeting for the flight enthusiast. put also non pilot will see allot of interesting stuff.
This is a 'round-a-bout' next to the church. The restaraunts in the background give you an idea of how the area looks. Nancy is a pretty laid back city.
