Being married to a fleamarket lover first thing we checked out were possible dates for fleamarkets. Since the dates that I found on the web were not really reliable (some stating a first sunday, others a last sunday of each month) I emailed the tourist office and voilà got a list of all fleamarkets in Nancy for the year of 2007! And here it is: Fleamarket calendar 2007.
Here are two websites: pointsdechine.com and vide-greniers.org or contact the tourist office of Nancy!
The fleamarket that we went to was wonderful: it was more of an antique market with lots of dealers and subsequently some higher prices, but there were also some bargains!!! It was held in the old part of Nancy along Grande Rue.
What to buy: We found a beautiful old radio from the 1930s - and a rather peculiar old mouse trap - great souvenirs to remind us of our stay in Nancy.
What to pay: It's a fleamarket - so bargain!!! We got the radio for 40 € (instead of 50 €) and the mouse trap for 5 € (instead of 6 €)!

When we saw this bakery we loved it at first sight: it is a place located in an Art Nouveau building with mosaics and those typical Jugendstil chandeliers. Plus the place was crammed whenever we passed by, so that should be an indication of good quality! Staff was really friendly and the little tartelet that we bought was excellent!

We were surprised to see a fruit and vegetable market off Grande Rue on a Sunday, but were happy to do some shopping there! In fact we bought most of our pick nick dinner there, which we later enjoyed in our hotel room! Delicious!
What to buy: They not only have fruit and vegetables there, but also cheese, meat and sausages, olives, honey and other goodies. When you buy there you can be sure that things are fresh and usually from the Lorraine region!

Grande Rue in the old part of Nancy is one of the areas where you can find quite a few antique shops!. Plus twice a year they have a fantastic fleamarket all along this "great street" - so be sure to check it out!
What to buy: Antiques - from furniture to china to old paintings - just check out the various shops!
