Black signs of pollution, large stains in the interior, and a general idea of... poverty.
The contrast with the well maintained city suggests that a quick intervention is needed.
It should be done by now, but... I don't know. Any news?

This is a rather global warning: Monday is a fairly dangerous day to do sightseeing!
Many museums are closed, but also here in Nancy we found that the central market was closed on mondays plus most of the restaurants! And this being our wedding anniversary and we wanted to go out that evening, we sure had a hard time to find a restaurant that was open!!!
So do plan your stay accordingly!

In May 2007 there were quite a few buildings that were under construction - scaffolding was quite common and a little annoying for the visitors. Amongst those buildings were churches and palaces especially in the old part of town.
Place Stanislas has been renovated a few years back and is bright and shiny now, but for these other places it might take some time until they are restored again. So be prepared and be patient!

when you are at the zebra crossing, driver should have let you cross the road first. but sometimes they do not. please wait and make sure driver stops the car and lt you cross the road :)
