I gave my history buff husband one full day of our trip to visit sites in conjunction with WWI or WWII, in the morning we visited Verdun and in the afternoon we headed to Veckring to do the tour of the Ouvrage Hackenberg, the largest fortress of the Maginot Line.
There is only one tour per day although they did break us into two groups, one for French speakers and the second for English speakers. The visit lasted about 2 hours, most of it underground. Wear warm clothes, especially for the train ride between the different sections of the fortress.
Admission was 9€ per person
The Hackenberg is the biggest fort of the Maginot Line.
This fort is well worth visiting even if you are not a specialist of military history.
Open : April to October every Saturday and Sunday from 2 pm to 4 pm. ( 2 hours visit )
The most powerful fort of the Maginot line!
A must see if you're interested in WW II history.

Please do dress warm, it can be quiet cold.
