Cauterets Things to Do

We were advised by our friendly B&B hosts to try the thermal baths in Cauterets during our daytrip next day. So we did, and it was really worth it. They were regular visitors, and we understood why.
It was enough to do to fill those two hours we had paid for, with all the different whirlpools and massage pools, all with thermal water. All in a very pleasant atmosphere, and surrounded by the most magnificent mountain landscape. It was stunning! The possibility of swimming both outside and inside, connected by a little tunnel made it all a memorable experience.

For 7 euros the 2 course plat du jour in The Brasserie is excellent value for money for lunch time.

There is also a more extensive a la carte menu, as well as a snack menu for sandwhiches. Staff friendly and very helpful. Warm cosy restaurant when it is snowing and cold outside and loads of coat racks and space for skis etc.

Favorite Dish: We had onion soup and roast duck with piles of fresh vegetables and potatoes. Wine and water was also included in the price.

    The deserts are amazing!

This region in the Hautes Pyrenees in France, is great for Alpine, Ski du Fond Snowboarding and Raquettes (walking with snow shoes).

There is a telecabina (lift that holds about 30 people and their ski's) that takes everyone to the pistes, which I find rather claustrophobic. At the weekend and winter holidays there is a two person lift a drive away.

Equipment: Everything can be hired in Cauterets, its a lovely town with cafe bars, restaurants, shops and a spa.
