Hotel Padoue: Basic,French Food
We had booked full board, so we had breakfast , lunch and dinner in the hotel. Breakfast I'm happy to say was not typical French, but buffet style with cheese, honey and several kinds of jam, cereal and joghurt.
Lunch and dinner were traditionally French, always an appetizer, for dinner also some soup, main dish followed by dessert and cheese. I didn't eat any of the meat and this was the only part of the meals the others at my table complained about.
We had fresh tap water free of charge. There was a wine menu, bottles only, but each bottle got marked with the table number and we got it back for the next meal. Needless to say, the wine was excellent.
The only time we had cancelled lunch was when we had planned an excursion and wanted to go to a restaurant. As it turned out we never made it - see my transportation tip - so we had a nice French picnic on a bench.
Le Magret: Excellent restaurant in Lourdes
A+ restaurant. Great atmosphere, superb and friendly service, excellent food. It is listed in the red Michelin guide with only the basic one fork grade but it deserves more than that.
Favorite Dish: everything was excellent but the desserts were absolutely wonderful.
