    Les Abattoirs

by iaint Written Apr 20, 2014

This is is a modern art complex in the St Cyprien part of the city, just across the river from the city centre. As the name suggests, it used to be the city’s abattoir and re-opened in its current form in 2000.
    Its website describes it as...
“un musée d’art moderne, un centre d'art contemporain ... et le fonds régional d’art contemporain (le Frac) de Midi-Pyrénées.”
In other words, it has 3 functions. For the average visitor, the art gallery function will be the most interesting.

    Trips and Tours available

by GentleSpirit Written Nov 2, 2013

    2.5 out of 5 starsHelpfulness

One thing that was a bit difficult to research from home was what the availability of organized tours was. I was looking more for tours that went to nearby cities so i wouldn't have to stay in a different place so many times.

For tours of Toulouse you should remember that the historical center is really fairly small and easily walkable. Furthermore, Toulouse's public transport system and bike rentals are outstanding. That said, here are a few options

For tours of Toulouse itself you have a few options
    1. walking tour given by the Tourist Office
    2. take the city navette which stops at the major tourist sites in the historical center
    3. a company called "Toulouse Walking Tours" that gives guided tours of the historical center, and a few to other places like Albi (http://www.toulousewalkingtours.com)
    4. Bus tour of Toulouse (http://www.citytour-toulouse.com) they manage to convert a bus into a partly open top so you can take better photos. gives a wider group of stops

    Tours farther afield
Toulouse Walking Tours and City tour Toulouse both offer tours to nearby cities (Albi, Cordes Sur Ciel)The latter appeared to have reasonable prices.

    Ponts Jumeaux

    by black_mimi99 Written Mar 2, 2011

Walking along this pont and choose one of 3 canal it's exciting thing to do.

The Ponts Jumeaux (English: Twin Bridges) is the point at which the Canal du Midi joins the Canal de Garonne and the River Garonne, via the Canal de Brienne. It was built in 1774 by Joseph-Marie de Saget, a civil engineer in the province of Languedoc in Toulouse.

In fact, there are three bridges, each of which is the entrance to a canal. The entrance to the Canal du Midi is in the center. The Canal de Garonne to the north. The Canal de Brienne to the south. The north bridge was added during construction of the Canal de Garonne in 1844.

A bas-relief is presented between the bridges south side by the Toulouse artist Francois Lucas in 1775 in Carrara marble.

    Cathédrale Saint-Étienne (Cathedral)

by Redang Written Apr 24, 2010

This Cathedral was built during a long period of time: 11th to 17th century. Not to miss the rose window, very similar to the one in Notre-Dame in Paris.
