If you're ever visiting Paris, then, 'Le Moulin Rouge' has got to be a must see for anyone who is serious about visiting France hasn't it.It first opened on October 5th 1889 and was managed by Joseph Oller and Charles Zidler. Although standing in the Montmartre region, which had around 80 windmills there at the time, Le Moulin Rouge was painted red and became a landmark and a symbol of joie de vivre -The joy of life, in Paris at that time. The Moulin Rouge was the meeting of the high style of life, a theatre, a concert hall and a dance hall all at the same time. This famous place was also the haunt of the artist Henri de Toulouse-Lautrec who painted the picture, 'Le Bouille', meaning The Glutton. The pic is the Moulin Rouge's most notorious dancer, Louise Weber. She used to drink anyone under the table and she used to pinch men's hats with her toes whilst dancing on the table...
