Sound and Light shows: Son et Lumiere

by ATLC

One thing that the French are really good at are Sound and Light shows. They come in different varieties and always take place in a historical spot like a castle, a church or with some spectacular backdrop. Usually the story told is about the history of the place. It can be just sound and light effects (like in the castle in Blois, where there's also an English version or in Strasbourg in the big cathedral) or it can be with actors and animals (horses, dogs, etc.). St. Fargeau boasts the 2nd best in France with 600 actors (people from the region) and 50 horsemen, a lake, a forest and a castle as props, and fireworks at the end.The most simple sound and light shows are usually every day in summer. The larger ones are sometimes one-offs or only in the weekend. They always start after dark, that means about 22.00-22.30 hrs but even so: take the children! Dress warmly and bring something to...

by dr.firas

It is the tradition here to drink and drink with none stop in rue de la soif, of course mostley wanted is the beer, there are lots of Irish bars as well to offer you Guinness, but I don't really like it!I like more Blond beer and Brunette women, than Blond women with Brunette Beer LOL LOL LOL

Hick

by dr.firas

So in a different task this time, I went to Rennes to earn some $$$It was one week of suffer, phisycal, mental, and spiritual, but it was rewarded, and also not missed of some funI suppose without rue de la soif I could be dead of this journey, but it was the best compensation :-)))

Cathedral of Rennes

by dr.firas

The Cathedral of Rennes is for sure a most wanted to be visited activity in this city, and it is indeed different of any of the other Cathedrals I saw in French cities, I mean when I saw the big church first time, I thought it was the Cathedral, but then when I saw the real one, I understood how different the style is!!!!

Tip Photo
City Hall

by dr.firas

City Hall of Place de la Mairie, and the building is a real Historical Chateau, lovely to be visited in both night time and day...the wonderful thing is that it is not far from the Opera and the gorgeous Cathedral!

Tip Photo
Theatre Opera

by dr.firas

The Theatre Opera is gorgeous, the evening shot and visit is more effective than the day one, the wonderful lights of it is more beautiful than its simple colors without lights in the morning...You can always have a wonderful visit and enjoy one of the eve in prestigious way in Rennes famous Opera :-D

Tip Photo
The famous Rue St Michel aka: Rue de la Soife

by dr.firas

St Michel is the old centre of the city, splendid architecting of the old houses, the fact that the Bars are gathered all one next to the one next to the one and etc, also in both sides, pushed the local people of Rennes to make irony and call it the street of thirsty!now it is more known and common with this name than the original name LOL!
