Sound and Light shows: Son et Lumiere
One thing that the French are really good at are Sound and Light shows. They come in different varieties and always take place in a historical spot like a castle, a church or with some spectacular backdrop. Usually the story told is about the history of the place. It can be just sound and light effects (like in the castle in Blois, where there's also an English version or in Strasbourg in the big cathedral) or it can be with actors and animals (horses, dogs, etc.). St. Fargeau boasts the 2nd best in France with 600 actors (people from the region) and 50 horsemen, a lake, a forest and a castle as props, and fireworks at the end.The most simple sound and light shows are usually every day in summer. The larger ones are sometimes one-offs or only in the weekend. They always start after dark, that means about 22.00-22.30 hrs but even so: take the children! Dress warmly and bring something to...
