Ardres Travel Guide

We live 6 hours from Dover so when we've crossed the Channel we're always ready for a break. We stay at a superb B&B - La Cense Hebron - in Ardres and eat at our favourite restaurant, Aux Marronniers. It has a vast choice of dishes, including a selection of pizzas to please the children. The Menu Touristique is great value and on our last visit I had both the starter and plat du jour from the blackboard - both were excellent. This is a friendly, unpretentious restaurant. The owner is the excellent chef and his wife runs the restaurant and works incredibly hard. We arrange our crossings to coincide with a lunch or evening meal here. Be warned, it's closed midi on a Saturday and all day on Monday. We were devastated to do a drive from Boulogne in July for Saturday lunch this year to find it closed. We made certain it was open for our return visit at the end of our holiday.

Favorite Dish: Our very favourite dish is the Escalope de Volaille which is served in the most wonderful sauce with masses of chips.
