 | Le Touquet-Paris-Plage Flights and Airline Tips | Tips 1 - 10 of 10 | | We have now travelled over to France a few times with our car from England, and have used Speed Ferries, which run between Dover & Boulogne-sur-Mer several times a day, taking around 50 minutes to cross the channel. It is then a 30-40 minute drive to Le Touquet. There are several ferries a day, and you must check in no later than 30 mins before departure. There is a passport check at this stage. The ferry has a few levels of cars all crammed in - it looks a bit chaotic, but seems to work. Once you have parked as instructed, you must leave your car and go to one of the 2 upper decks, where there is plenty of seating, a couple of food shops, duty free shopping and toilets. You can also stand out on deck at the rear….watch out for spray though! It was a very stress free way to travel to France….just remember which side of the road you have to drive on if you come over from the UK. The cost of the ferry starts from Ł25.00 each way per car (with up to 5 passengers) Leave a Comment

In June/July 2006 we had a 9 day driving holiday in France. We caught a car ferry from Dover to Calais, drove down through Normandy, popped into Brittany and then caught the ferry back to Dover from Boulogne-sur-Mer. We chose to take our own car over, as the cost of the ferry and petrol was significantly cheaper than flying from London and hiring a car in France. I also feel a lot more comfortable travelling in our own car as opposed to a hire car. The only negative thing about driving our car in France is that it is a right hand drive car, and French cars are left hand drive, which means that tolls/tickets machines etc are on the wrong side of the car for the driver to operate…luckily I was able to assist in these duties from the passenger seat, but I do feel sorry for the solo traveller in these situations. Driving in France is great. The roads are good and the sign posting is excellent. You can hoon along on the wide tollways/freeways, or travel along pretty coastal roads, soaking up the atmosphere of the French countryside. Just remember which side of the road you have to drive on if you come over from the UK. Leave a Comment

Le Touquet is a family seaside resort, and when you take a wander down by the sea front you can certainly see that it caters for kids! For the younger kids there is a fabulous old carousel, and some cute little wooden wheeled horses. For the older ones there are some water slides…though they looked like they hadn’t been used in a while… The beach looked quite nice, and although pretty quiet on the breezy day we were there, I can imagine it gets pretty packed in summer. There is a paved promenade above the beach which would be the perfect place for lazy meander on a summers afternoon. ~~~ On my 2nd stop off in Le Touquet in June 2006 I sat on the promenade for a while, soaking up the sun and people watching ~~~ Leave a Comment

When we arrived in Le Touquet we drove right down the middle of the town on the pretty Rue St Jean. This one lane street is virtually a pedestrian zone, and is street-scaped with plants and paving. Lining Rue St Jean are all the shops you would need on your holiday, along with plenty of cafes, bars and restaurants. The street has an ‘upmarket’ feel about it and it was filled with happy shoppers on the Sunday we were there. After a window shop we popped into a patisserie for a treat. Leave a Comment

This is an example of the typical 'le Touquet' style. Many houses in Le Touquet are on the inheritance list. And they should be. This beauty was build by F. Gombeau , a parisian architect. 'Alexandre' was build in 1911 and one of the many wonders of architecture to be admired in Le Touquet. You can find a list of protected Houses on the site of the city. A MUST. Leave a Comment

A waterparadise... Just the place you where looking for to go with the kids... A gigantic tropical swimmingpool with lots of exciting and fast attraction. 10 points for being child friendly -an outside playground for -6 -an outside playground for -10 -and lots of attractions for children from 10 till 99years old. Don't forget to go in the twister and the black hole... :-) Prices : prices depend on the season and how long you are planning to stay. Taking food within the ticket might not be a good idea. The rows to get a lazy burger are quite long (we didn't) Leave a Comment

Le Touquet has an enormous beach. That is a big advantage , because even when it is high season , you will be able to find a spot in the sun. Another advantage is that , as well as in the south as in the north of town , the beaches are surrounded by dunes. So if you do a little walk , you can have quite some space for your own pleasure... Even if it is not in your budget to go and eat - le plat de fruits de mer -royal'...go and have a look in this fine delicacy shop. The restaurant is next to the place. (Le Touquet is still a bit more expensive than other towns , because of his historic beau-chic reputation) Leave a Comment Address: Rue de MetzDirections: The center...
